Job Title: Protection from Violence Assistant (Protection Case Management)
Location: Uganda
Target Group: Ugandan Nationals Only (Females highly encouraged to apply)
Job Description
Generic Responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.
• Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
• Assist in implementation of the Protection from Violence portfolio according to plan of action.
• Implement independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated.
• Responsible for the organization and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work to effectively support the team.
• Use initiative in day-to-day problem solving in line with agreed procedures and priorities.
• Prepare and develop status reports as required by line management.
• Ensure proper filing of documents for all cases assisted.
• Promote and share ideas for improvement in your area of expertise.
Specific Responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus, and type of programme intervention.
• Identify and respond to cases in a safe and dignified manner including during Mobile Protection Desks.
• Ensure timely referral of cases to relevant stakeholders and maintain functionality of referral systems.
• Support qualitative data collection, assessments, KIIs, and FGDs to identify community needs and service gaps.
• Conduct regular field and home visits in line with case management processes and PFV SOPs.
• Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, partners, community leaders, and service providers.
• Ensure timely response to cases identified through feedback and referral mechanisms.
• Support PFV trend analysis for planning, response, and advocacy.
• Assist in identifying and responding to emergency cases including internal referrals.
• Support development of concept notes and PFV activities for timely implementation.
• Participate in related activities as assigned by the Line Manager.
• Participate in mapping exercises and assessments of vulnerable populations using participatory tools.
• Support maintenance of PFV case management database with PFV Officers.
• Ensure timely submission of PFV activity reports for management analysis.
• Assist in identifying trends related to violence in the area of intervention.
• Collect and transmit documents and activity reports from assigned villages to PFV Officers.
Professional Competencies
Generic Professional Competencies
• Experience working as a Protection Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context.
• University degree in Law, Social Studies, Development Studies, or related field.
• Knowledge and experience in administration or technical fields.
• Previous experience in complex and volatile contexts.
• Documented results related to position responsibilities.
• Good knowledge of English.
Context / Specific Skills & Experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Experience with case management (Protection preferred; GBV or Child Protection acceptable).
• Experience with psychosocial support and Psychological First Aid (PFA) preferred.
