DANISH REFUGEE COUNCIL UGANDA JOBS 2026 – MEAL ASSISTANT VACANCY (BIDIBIDI REFUGEE SETTLEMENT | URRI PROGRAMME)

Danish Refugee Council is recruiting a highly qualified and motivated professional to join its Uganda team as a MEAL Assistant under the Uganda Refugee Resilience Initiative (URRI) Programme. The role focuses on monitoring, evaluation, accountability, learning, and data-driven programme improvement in refugee and host communities in Northern Uganda.
PROJECT BACKGROUND – URRI PROGRAMME
The Uganda Refugee Resilience Initiative (URRI) aims to:
  • Enhance climate resilience among women, men, and youth.
  • Strengthen inclusive, cohesive, and sustainable development.
  • Support refugee and host communities in West Nile and surrounding regions.
  • Align development efforts with local priorities.
  • Improve resilience outcomes for persons of concern in Uganda.
The programme is funded by the Royal Danish Embassy in Kampala.
POSITION TITLE
MEAL Assistant (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning Assistant)
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The MEAL Assistant will support comprehensive monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities for programmes implemented by Danish Refugee Council in Bidibidi Refugee Settlement.
The role ensures that project activities meet high-quality standards and contribute to improving the resilience capacity of persons of concern in West Nile.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare annual project monitoring plans.
  • Develop and share project performance indicators across all sectors.
  • Conduct routine project implementation monitoring and produce monthly monitoring reports.
  • Conduct baseline, midterm, and endline evaluations for new projects.
  • Represent DRC in joint partner coordination meetings and performance monitoring assessments.
  • Lead data quality assurance, data management, reporting, and presentation to stakeholders.
  • Identify and lead learning events within the programme.
  • Document success stories, best practices, and lessons learned.
  • Track resilience design indicators and ensure data accuracy.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Statistics
    • Economics
    • Social Sciences
    • or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years MEAL experience in an international NGO or humanitarian organization.
  • Strong skills in:
    • Monitoring & Evaluation systems
    • Quantitative and qualitative data collection
    • Data analysis and reporting
  • Experience using:
    • MS Excel, MS Access
    • SPSS or STATA
    • Mobile/electronic data collection tools
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
DESIRABLE SKILLS
  • Knowledge of local languages in the operational area.
