DANISH REFUGEE COUNCIL UGANDA JOBS 2026 – MEAL INTERN VACANCY (MONITORING, EVALUATION, ACCOUNTABILITY & LEARNING)

Danish Refugee Council is recruiting a motivated and detail-oriented candidate to join its Uganda programme as a MEAL Intern. This role supports field-based Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities aimed at improving program quality, data systems, accountability mechanisms, and evidence-based decision-making in humanitarian operations.
POSITION TITLE
MEAL Intern (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning Intern)
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The MEAL Intern will support the implementation of MEAL activities at field level, gaining hands-on experience in:
  • Data collection and field monitoring
  • Data quality assurance
  • Reporting and documentation
  • Accountability systems
  • Basic data analysis
The role supports project teams to track progress and improve overall programme quality in refugee settlements and humanitarian field operations.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support routine field data collection using digital tools such as KoboCollect.
  • Assist in conducting assessments, surveys, and post-distribution monitoring (PDM).
  • Participate in spot checks and routine data quality assessments in the field.
  • Assist in data entry, cleaning, compilation, and basic analysis using Excel and other data tools.
  • Support preparation of weekly, monthly, and activity reports.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for MEAL tools, reports, attendance sheets, and monitoring documents.
  • Support collection and documentation of beneficiary feedback and complaints through accountability systems.
  • Assist in community feedback sessions and engagement activities.
  • Participate in field monitoring visits and learning exercises.
  • Document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Assist in logistics preparation for MEAL activities including attendance tracking and tool preparation.
  • Perform any other MEAL-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Statistics
    • Economics
    • Social Sciences
    • Development Studies
    • Information Management
    • Data Science
    • Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Basic understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation concepts.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in field environments and adapt to challenging conditions.
  • High level of integrity and adherence to ethical standards.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work with energy, positivity, and willingness to learn.
  • Cultural, gender, and diversity sensitivity.
DESIRABLE SKILLS
  • Knowledge of local languages spoken in refugee communities.

  • Salary & Conditions: As per Danish Refugee Council national staff terms.
