The organisation operates in Uganda through a coordination team in Kampala and field teams around Fort Portal, implementing projects focused on agroecology, agroforestry, coffee and cocoa value chains, climate resilience, and sustainable farming systems.
Nitidæ works closely with farmers, cooperatives, government institutions, research organisations, and private sector partners to create sustainable solutions that support communities and protect natural resources.

Job Summary

Nitidæ Uganda is seeking experienced and reliable Temporary Drivers / Couriers to join its pool of on-call drivers.
Successful candidates will provide transport and logistics support whenever operational needs arise. This is a temporary engagement where assignments will be provided based on organisational requirements.
The successful applicant must be highly skilled in driving manual transmission pick-up vehicles and motorcycles, with strong knowledge of Ugandan roads, field travel, GPS navigation, and safe transportation practices.
The role involves transporting staff, partners, visitors, documents, equipment, and supplies while ensuring vehicle safety, proper documentation, and compliance with organisational procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Vehicle & Motorcycle Operations
  • Safely operate Nitidæ manual transmission pick-up vehicles and motorcycles.
  • Follow Ugandan traffic laws and organisational safety procedures.
  • Transport staff, partners, and visitors according to approved schedules.
  • Drive in Kampala, rural areas, and upcountry locations.
  • Ensure safe transportation on rough and challenging roads.
  • Maintain awareness of road conditions, security situations, and possible travel risks.
Transport & Logistics Support
  • Provide transportation support during field missions and official activities.
  • Carry out official errands and deliveries including:
    • Documents
    • Equipment
    • Procurement collections
    • Banking errands
    • Administrative deliveries
  • Support loading and unloading of supplies and equipment.
  • Secure cargo and ensure safe transportation of sensitive items.
  • Assist project teams with logistics-related activities.
Navigation & Route Planning
  • Use GPS and geolocation applications, especially Google Maps.
  • Navigate accurately to unfamiliar locations using coordinates and map pins.
  • Identify alternative routes when roads are blocked or unsafe.
  • Understand major routes across Uganda.
  • Plan safe and efficient journeys.
  • Adapt travel plans based on security and road conditions.
Vehicle Maintenance & Documentation
  • Conduct routine vehicle and motorcycle checks.
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles.
  • Report mechanical problems immediately.
  • Coordinate vehicle servicing and repairs when required.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks including:
    • Mileage records
    • Fuel usage
    • Routes travelled
    • Passengers transported
    • Maintenance activities
    • Incidents reported
Safety, Security & Professional Conduct
  • Follow Nitidæ travel security procedures.
  • Report incidents and safety concerns promptly.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling documents and information.
  • Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with staff, partners, and visitors.
  • Ensure responsible use of fuel and organisational resources.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should possess:
  • Valid Ugandan driving licences for:
    • Motor vehicles
    • Motorcycles
  • Minimum 3 years’ professional driving experience.
  • Proven experience driving:
    • Manual transmission vehicles
    • Pick-up trucks
    • Motorcycles
  • Experience driving on:
    • Rural roads
    • Rough terrain
    • Upcountry routes
Experience working with:
  • NGOs
  • International organisations
  • Development projects
