Job Overview
Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) is seeking a qualified and experienced Human Resources professional to support the organisation's talent management, learning and development, leadership development and workforce planning functions.
The successful candidate will contribute to developing employee capabilities, identifying and nurturing talent, supporting leadership development initiatives, facilitating learning programmes and using HR data to inform workforce and organisational development decisions.
Education and Professional Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A Second Class Upper Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Organisational Psychology, Business Administration (Human Resource Management option), or another relevant field.
- A Master's Degree in Human Resource Management, Organisational Psychology, Business Administration (Human Resource Management option) or an equivalent qualification.
- Professional registration with an accredited HR body, such as HRMAU or an equivalent professional body, is an added advantage.
- Certification in Training of Trainers (ToT), Learning and Development, or a related discipline is an added advantage.
Required Work Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
- At least seven (7) years of consecutive and relevant experience in Human Resources Management.
- At least two (2) years of experience specifically in talent management, learning and development, or organisational development.
- Experience working within a structured HR department in a medium to large organisation.
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS), including system administration and reporting, is preferred.
- Practical experience facilitating training and coaching different workforce groups.
- Experience in the energy, utilities, infrastructure or heavy industry sector is an added advantage.

Good knowledge of learning and development practices, including training needs assessment, learning programmes, employee development and evaluation of training effectiveness.

Ability to support leadership development programmes and initiatives designed to strengthen current and future organisational leaders.
Workforce Planning
Strong understanding of workforce planning and the ability to assess workforce requirements in relation to organisational objectives and future skills needs.
Technical Workforce Understanding
Ability to understand the learning and development requirements of highly technical employees, particularly within complex operational environments.
Strategic Thinking and Business Acumen
Ability to align HR and talent initiatives with organisational strategy, business objectives and workforce requirements.
Data Analysis and Reporting
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret HR data, prepare reports and use workforce information to support management decision-making.
Facilitation and Coaching
Excellent facilitation, coaching and presentation skills, with the ability to engage employees at different levels of the organisation.
Stakeholder Engagement
Ability to build effective working relationships with employees, managers, senior leadership and other stakeholders.
Project Management
Strong organisational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple HR initiatives and meet competing deadlines.
Employment Law and HR Best Practices
Good understanding of Uganda employment laws, HR policies and modern human resource management best practices.
Conflict Resolution
Ability to handle workplace concerns professionally and contribute to effective conflict resolution and positive employee relations.
