Job Summary

SeaOwl Group is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Instrumentation Technician to maintain, calibrate, test, inspect, and troubleshoot field instruments and automated control systems used on compressor and heating packages. The successful candidate will ensure that instrumentation equipment operates accurately, safely, and efficiently while supporting uninterrupted plant operations.
This position is ideal for a technically competent professional with experience in instrumentation, industrial automation, control systems, and preventive maintenance within the energy or industrial sector.

Key Responsibilities

Instrumentation Calibration & Testing
  • Perform routine calibration of field instruments to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Conduct loop checks and functional testing of instrumentation systems.
  • Test control systems to verify proper operation and system reliability.
  • Ensure all instruments comply with operational specifications and calibration standards.
  • Maintain calibration records and certification documentation.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Diagnose faults affecting instrumentation and automated control systems.
  • Repair and maintain field sensors, transmitters, and control devices.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation equipment.
  • Replace faulty components and restore equipment to optimal working condition.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation failures to minimize equipment downtime.
Inspection & System Reliability
  • Conduct routine inspections of instrumentation equipment and control systems.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify potential failures before they occur.
  • Verify the proper functioning of compressor and heating package instrumentation.
  • Support equipment commissioning, testing, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure instrumentation systems operate safely and efficiently.
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Follow approved safety procedures during maintenance and testing activities.
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and risk assessments.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare maintenance reports and calibration records.
  • Document inspection findings and completed repair activities.
  • Report equipment faults, operational issues, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through accurate reporting and technical feedback.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:
  • Relevant Technical Qualification or Diploma in Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
  • Associate Degree or equivalent qualification in Instrumentation, Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 12 months of relevant experience in instrumentation maintenance or industrial control systems.
  • Experience in oil and gas, manufacturing, power generation, industrial plants, or heavy engineering environments is an added advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies

Successful candidates should demonstrate:
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Experience in instrument calibration and loop testing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot sensors, transmitters, and automated control devices.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation systems and process control.
  • Strong analytical and fault diagnosis skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Good understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
