GBV CASE WORKER JOBS IN UGANDA – INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEE (IRC)

Job Title: GBV Case Worker
Organization: International Rescue Committee (IRC)
Location: Kiryandongo, Palorinya, Palabek, and Adjumani Refugee Settlements, Uganda

Job Overview
The GBV Case Worker will provide direct support for the implementation of integrated Gender-Based Violence (GBV) case management services, psychosocial support, and survivor-centered interventions for women and girls in refugee settlements. The role focuses on ensuring survivors have access to quality services, information, referrals, and support networks while maintaining confidentiality, safety, and dignity throughout the case management process.
Key Responsibilities
GBV Case Management and Psychosocial Support
  • Provide survivor-centered GBV case management and psychosocial support services.
  • Assess survivor needs and coordinate referrals to health, legal, protection, and social support services.
  • Ensure adherence to GBV guiding principles including confidentiality, safety, respect, and non-discrimination.
  • Maintain accurate case records using the GBV Information Management System (GBVIMS).
  • Support the development and implementation of referral pathways for GBV survivors.
Program Implementation
  • Facilitate activities for women and girls through women centers and mobile outreach services.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups and monitor survivor progress.
  • Support capacity-building initiatives for community structures and partner organizations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with women’s committees, community volunteers, and stakeholders.
Reporting and Documentation
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on project activities and outcomes.
  • Participate in case review meetings, training sessions, and coordination forums.
  • Utilize GBV data management tools to improve service delivery and program effectiveness.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Sociology, Psychology, Gender Studies, Human Rights, or a related Social Sciences field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience providing GBV case management services in humanitarian or post-conflict settings.
  • Experience in psychosocial support, women’s empowerment, protection programming, or gender-based violence interventions.
  • Knowledge of survivor-centered approaches and humanitarian protection standards.
  • Experience using GBVIMS and other case management tools is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong report writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and database systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing environments.
  • High level of emotional maturity and resilience.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
