JOB DESCRIPTION

As part of the Operations Department, the Area Sales Manager is responsible for the management, training, and development of several branches offering optical services across Uganda.
The successful candidate will travel across the country to visit branches under their supervision and ensure operational excellence, strong sales performance, and customer satisfaction.
The Area Sales Manager reports directly to the Operations Manager and works closely with various company departments.
The role directly supervises and manages Branch Managers, Sales Representatives, and Eye Specialists, ensuring that branch operations align with company policies, sales strategies, and growth objectives.
The Area Sales Manager is responsible for increasing profitability and performance across all branches within their assigned territory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop Strong Knowledge of Territory and Product Offering
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of Lapaire products and services.
  • Understand customer needs, preferences, and market dynamics.
  • Increase brand awareness and educate potential customers about eye health and vision care.
  • Promote awareness of vision problems and available optical solutions.
2. Lead, Train and Inspire Teams
  • Manage and train Branch Managers on an ongoing basis.
  • Share commercial and managerial knowledge and best practices.
  • Motivate and support Branch Managers in day-to-day team management and customer relationship activities.
  • Ensure branch teams achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Communicate organizational goals and objectives clearly.
  • Continuously monitor branch performance and provide coaching where necessary.
  • Maintain regular communication with Branch Managers to ensure operational effectiveness.
3. Develop Effective Sales Strategies and Activities
  • Implement Lapaire’s sales strategy across all assigned branches.
  • Conduct daily monitoring and follow-up on branch performance.
  • Identify challenges affecting branch performance and implement practical solutions.
  • Drive achievement of key performance indicators including:
    • Sales revenue
    • Customer satisfaction
    • Profitability
    • Branch growth
  • Work closely with the Marketing Team to develop and implement sales action plans.
  • Increase brand visibility and branch turnover.
  • Support the development and opening of new branches under the guidance of the Operations Manager.
4. Ensure Compliance with Company Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure branches maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, ventilation, and professionalism.
  • Verify that staff consistently wear company uniforms and represent the brand appropriately.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure proper accounting and financial management.
  • Supervise stock management and inventory control across all branches.
  • Handle escalated complaints from customers, suppliers, and delivery personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Commerce
    • Business Administration
    • Or any related field
Experience
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in a business or retail environment.
  • Previous experience in:
    • Store management
    • Team leadership
    • Business management
Only candidates with prior experience in store, team, and business management will be considered.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Accounting software
    • CRM systems
    • Business analysis tools
Knowledge
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Good understanding of business management processes.
  • Knowledge of retail operations and sales management.
