Group Head of IT – Jibu Uganda

Job Summary
The Group Head of IT is responsible for leading and managing all technology systems that support Jibu’s franchise network and corporate operations across East and Central Africa. The role provides strategic leadership in IT governance, product ownership, infrastructure management, cybersecurity, data governance, digital transformation, and project delivery.
This position is offered by Jibu Uganda.
Job Purpose
To oversee Jibu’s technology ecosystem, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable IT solutions that support business growth, operational efficiency, franchise success, and data-driven decision-making across multiple countries.
Key Responsibilities
1. IT Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute the annual IT strategy and technology roadmap.
  • Align IT initiatives with organizational goals and business objectives.
  • Manage IT budgets, software licenses, renewals, and vendor expenditures.
  • Establish and enforce IT governance, security, and compliance policies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the internal IT team.
  • Conduct regular IT performance reviews with senior management.
2. Product Ownership & Systems Management
  • Own the lifecycle of all enterprise IT products and platforms.
  • Lead ERPNext Unified Franchise Platform implementation and optimization.
  • Oversee NetSuite ERP administration, enhancements, and user support.
  • Manage Point of Sale (POS) systems across franchise locations.
  • Oversee the Jibu website ecosystem and digital platforms.
  • Manage FreshDesk helpdesk operations and service delivery standards.
  • Evaluate, upgrade, replace, or retire technology systems when necessary.
3. Infrastructure & Cybersecurity Management
  • Manage cloud and on-premise infrastructure environments.
  • Administer Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Proxmox servers, and VPS environments.
  • Maintain domain registrations and website hosting services.
  • Manage Google Workspace administration and security settings.
  • Monitor cybersecurity risks and respond to security incidents.
  • Ensure reliable network connectivity and IT service availability.
4. Data Management & Analytics
  • Lead enterprise data architecture and governance initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain data quality standards.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and integration across systems.
  • Develop IT performance and ROI reporting dashboards.
  • Support data-driven decision-making through analytics and reporting.
5. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts, licenses, and service agreements.
  • Monitor vendor performance and SLA compliance.
  • Serve as the primary IT liaison for senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with training teams to develop user manuals and training resources.
6. IT Project Management & Digital Transformation
  • Lead IT projects from planning through implementation and closure.
  • Prioritize technology initiatives and product enhancements.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Support franchise and country teams during system rollouts.
  • Develop adoption strategies, training materials, and support documentation.
  • Ensure successful implementation of new technologies and process improvements.
Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Information Technology
    • Computer Science
    • Software Engineering
    • Information Systems
    • Or a related field
Professional Certifications (Added Advantage)
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • PRINCE2
  • ITIL
  • AWS Certifications
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Certifications
  • Other relevant technology certifications
Experience
  • Minimum 4 years of IT experience.
  • At least 1 year in a senior or management-level IT role.
  • Proven experience managing ERP implementations.
  • Experience with ERPNext and/or NetSuite preferred.
  • Experience managing multi-country or multi-site IT environments.
  • Demonstrated success delivering IT projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience in franchise operations, FMCG, or high-growth businesses is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery.
  • Cloud infrastructure management.
  • ERPNext and NetSuite administration.
  • DNS management and web technologies.
  • WordPress, Strapi, Vercel, and Cloudflare.
  • Data integration and ETL tools such as Airbyte.
  • Cybersecurity and access management principles.
  • Programming and scripting (Python, JavaScript, or similar).
  • Business intelligence, reporting, and dashboard development.
