Job Summary
Nile Breweries is seeking a Team Leader to lead shift-based production teams and ensure effective execution of the production plan in line with required safety, quality, productivity, cost, and performance standards.
The role involves managing production shifts, coordinating maintenance activities, optimizing production processes, developing employees, and ensuring that teams achieve operational targets within approved budgets.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Maintain a Safe and Healthy Work Environment
  • Comply with applicable safety, health, and environmental procedures and legislation.
  • Maintain high standards of workplace safety, housekeeping, and operational discipline.
  • Ensure employees follow required health, safety, and environmental practices.
2. Optimize Production Performance and Processes
  • Manage production shifts using VPO tools and principles.
  • Ensure production plans are achieved within approved costs.
  • Coordinate scheduled maintenance and autonomous operations.
  • Monitor and coordinate production processes within budget.
  • Interpret and implement production plans for each shift.
  • Maintain safe and efficient production operations.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers and suppliers.
3. Optimize Team Performance
  • Facilitate effective teamwork and positive team dynamics.
  • Implement performance management and OPR processes.
  • Communicate production requirements, expectations, and performance information effectively.
  • Support employees in achieving individual and team objectives.
4. Perform Administration
  • Ensure appropriate administrative systems and procedures are applied.
  • Administer employment conditions for team members.
  • Contribute to personal and team development initiatives.
  • Prepare and control operational budgets.
  • Manage financial performance, including budget preparation and monthly Short Interval Control.
5. Manage Human Resources
  • Develop employees through coaching, support, and performance management.
  • Promote a healthy industrial relations environment.
  • Apply people policies and practices consistently.
  • Support employee development and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automotive & Power Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Completion of an AB InBev Packaging Traineeship.
  • Experience managing and operating a high-speed packaging line is highly advantageous.
  • A strong performance record demonstrating a disciplined work ethic.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and passion for continuous improvement.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should combine technical engineering knowledge with strong production leadership, team management, problem-solving, maintenance coordination, financial management, and employee development skills.
Experience in a high-speed manufacturing or packaging environment would be particularly valuable, especially where the candidate has been responsible for meeting production targets while maintaining safety, quality, and cost controls.
