Forvis Mazars Uganda is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sustainability Associate to support Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives for the firm and its clients.

Job Summary

The Sustainability Associate will support the delivery of ESG advisory services, sustainability strategies, environmental assessments, sustainability reporting, and stakeholder engagement activities.
The successful candidate will assist clients and internal teams in implementing sustainability initiatives aligned with international standards, regulatory requirements, and global best practices.
The role requires strong analytical skills, research ability, report writing skills, and knowledge of ESG frameworks, climate change, and sustainability reporting.

Key Responsibilities

1. ESG Advisory and Project Support
  • Support ESG and sustainability consulting projects.
  • Assist with sustainability assessments and strategy development.
  • Support carbon footprint measurement and climate-related initiatives.
  • Prepare client presentations, proposals, and sustainability reports.
  • Contribute to ESG advisory assignments and business development activities.
2. ESG Research and Regulatory Monitoring
  • Conduct research on international ESG frameworks and sustainability standards.
  • Support analysis of frameworks including:
    • Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
    • IFRS Sustainability Standards (S1/S2)
    • Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
    • Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Monitor sustainability regulations and developments in Uganda and the wider region.
  • Provide updates on emerging ESG trends and requirements.
3. ESG Data Collection and Analysis
  • Collect, verify, and analyse sustainability-related data.
  • Support development of ESG indicators, metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools.
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of ESG information.
  • Assist clients in improving sustainability data management processes.
4. Sustainability Reporting and Disclosure
  • Support preparation of ESG reports aligned with international standards.
  • Assist in sustainability disclosures and reporting requirements.
  • Support responses to:
    • ESG questionnaires
    • Tender submissions
    • Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Review sustainability information for accuracy and completeness.
5. Internal Sustainability Initiatives
  • Support implementation of sustainability programmes within the firm.
  • Assist with sustainability awareness campaigns and internal training.
  • Contribute to internal ESG reporting activities.
  • Promote sustainability practices across departments.
6. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Coordinate sustainability activities with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support workshops, meetings, and sustainability discussions.
  • Assist in stakeholder communication and engagement activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

Academic Qualifications

Professional Experience
