Job Summary
True North Uganda is seeking a results-driven Sales Executive to sell and distribute an assigned product portfolio across specified trade channels within Kampala. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving sales, distribution, product availability, merchandising, and display targets within the assigned territory.
This Sales Executive job in Uganda is particularly suitable for candidates with FMCG sales experience, strong selling skills, good customer relationships, and the ability to manage sales routes and targets effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Target Planning
- Conduct sales route calls according to the established Permanent Journey Plan (PJP).
- Plan sell-out targets by SKU for each customer in line with overall tertiary sales targets.
- Use IQ recommendations and available sales information to guide sales planning.
- Review performance at the end of each planned journey against assigned targets.
- Monitor product availability across assigned customers and outlets.
- Identify sales opportunities and take appropriate action to maximize revenue.
Selling and Distribution
- Achieve tertiary sales targets for all assigned SKUs through direct sales.
- Ensure effective utilization of approved Trading Terms (TTS) within the assigned territory.
- Build and expand numeric distribution across assigned outlets.
- Ensure implementation of company merchandising and product availability standards.
- Implement cycle priorities within assigned stores and trade channels.
- Follow up on opportunities identified during store checks.
- Implement Point-of-Sale Materials (POSM) according to company standards.
- Ensure products are correctly displayed and readily available to customers.
Product Quality and Stock Management
- Ensure proper stock rotation at customer outlets.
- Identify slow-moving stock and support appropriate redistribution to faster-moving outlets where applicable.
- Ensure products are stored correctly.
- Monitor product condition and identify damaged or compromised stock.
- Process replacement of damaged products in accordance with the applicable trade returns policy.
- Monitor expiry risks and take appropriate preventive action.
Customer Service and Relationship Management
- Visit customers within the territory according to the agreed schedule.
- Keep customers informed about current prices and relevant product information.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with retailers and other trade partners.
- Respond professionally to customer concerns and requests.
- Maintain good cooperation and communication throughout the assigned territory.
- Identify opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and sales growth.
Sales Administration and Reporting
- Maintain accurate, updated, and organized sales administration records.
- Submit required sales and field reports on time through the company's mobility system.
- Reconcile daily sales accurately.
- Reconcile and account for the company float.
- Ensure all sales transactions and field activities are properly documented.
- Provide accurate information to management regarding territory performance, distribution, stock, and customer activity.
Qualifications and Experience
- Basic Certificate in Sales and Marketing or a relevant field.
- Minimum 6 months' experience in the FMCG industry, preferably as a Sales Representative.
- Previous experience in field sales, direct selling, distribution, merchandising, or territory sales is an advantage.
- Must have a phone with 128 GB storage and RAM between 4 GB and 6 GB, as specified in the vacancy.
- Ability to work in the field and travel throughout an assigned sales territory.
