Job Objective
The Releasing Clerk – Warehouse is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely release of cargo from the warehouse. The role involves verifying cargo release documentation, updating warehouse records, coordinating with customers, transporters and clearing agents, and ensuring compliance with warehouse, customs and Inland Container Depot (ICD) procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify cargo release documents, including delivery orders, customs documents, invoices and customer authorizations, before releasing goods.
- Process and record cargo releases in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and maintain accurate documentation.
- Coordinate with warehouse teams, transporters, customers and clearing agents to facilitate smooth cargo collection.
- Confirm cargo quantities, descriptions and physical condition before release.
- Maintain accurate records of released cargo, stock movements and outstanding deliveries.
- Prepare daily cargo release reports and submit operational updates to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with warehouse procedures, customs requirements and company policies.
- Identify, resolve and escalate documentation discrepancies to the relevant departments.
- Support stock reconciliation and periodic warehouse audits.
- Maintain proper filing and safe custody of cargo release documents.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.
Authority and Independence
The Releasing Clerk – Warehouse has authority delegated by the Warehouse Supervisor in accordance with the requirements, duties and responsibilities of the position.
Work Conditions
- The position is based within an ICD warehouse environment.
- Requires regular interaction with customers, transporters, clearing agents and regulatory authorities.
- May involve shift work, overtime, weekends and public holidays depending on operational requirements.
- Employees must comply with workplace safety requirements and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
