Job Summary
ICTJ Uganda is seeking a qualified Program Associate to support research, reporting, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and program coordination activities. The role works closely with the Head of ICTJ Uganda Office and contributes to proposal development, work planning, reporting, and implementation support.
This position is based in Kampala, Uganda, with preference given to Ugandan nationals.

Key Responsibilities
The Program Associate will:
  • Conduct research and drafting tasks, including legal research, comparative analysis, and preparation of memos, country papers, and situation reports.
  • Prepare monthly reports, briefing notes, and written materials for publication.
  • Support planning and coordination of workshops, meetings, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Liaise with government institutions, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Support advocacy, outreach, and communication activities.
  • Assist in preparing project proposals, work plans, budgets, and program documents.
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) activities, including surveys and assessments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and organized program records.
  • Provide general administrative and programmatic support as required.

Qualifications
Applicants should have:
  • A university degree or higher education certificate in Administration, Social Sciences, Human Rights, Law, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional experience may substitute for formal academic qualifications in some cases.
Experience
Candidates should have:
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in project coordination within an NGO, government agency, or community-based organization.
  • Experience in surveys and Design, Monitoring and Evaluation (DME) is an added advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies
Successful candidates should demonstrate:
  • Knowledge of transitional justice and/or human rights (strong advantage).
  • Experience in event planning and stakeholder coordination.
  • Strong facilitation skills for workshops and group discussions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of at least one local language (e.g., Luganda or Swahili).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and professionalism.
