Job Summary
True North Uganda is seeking motivated and results-driven Motor Bike/Tuk Tuk Field Sales Executives to support high-frequency, last-mile product distribution in areas where larger delivery vehicles may have difficulty accessing congested or narrow roads.
The successful candidates will be responsible for visiting assigned customers, increasing sales and product distribution, processing orders and payments, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring products are properly displayed and available at retail outlets.
This is a field-based FMCG sales job in Uganda that requires strong selling skills, customer service ability, route planning, and the ability to operate a motorbike or Tuk Tuk.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Productivity
  • Focus on increasing drop size growth across assigned customers.
  • Increase the number of customer drops per route in congested urban and high-density areas.
  • Achieve 100% total call coverage, targeting approximately 40 customer calls per day.
  • Achieve 100% UBO coverage within the assigned territory.
  • Increase coverage of outlets located outside established road routes.
  • Report mechanical issues promptly and follow company procedures for vehicle maintenance.
  • Follow the company's High-Density Distribution Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
2. Route and Cluster Planning
  • Review and follow the daily route plan designed for high-density outlets.
  • Prioritize outlets requiring frequent visits and smaller product drops.
  • Plan routes efficiently to maximize customer coverage and sales productivity.
  • Conduct sales calls according to the assigned Permanent Journey Plan (PJP).
3. Transaction Processing and Cash Management
  • Use the company's SFA mobile application to process customer invoices and sales transactions.
  • Collect customer payments through approved methods, including cash and mobile money.
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales and payments.
  • Deposit accumulated cash at a bank or authorized mobile money agent at least once per day to minimize cash-handling risks.
  • Reconcile daily sales collections and company float accurately.
4. Sales and Target Planning
  • Carry out sales route calls according to the approved Permanent Journey Plan.
  • Develop SKU-level sell-out targets for individual customers.
  • Use IQ recommendations and company guidance when planning customer sales targets.
  • Review sales performance against targets at the end of every planned journey.
  • Monitor product availability at customer outlets and identify opportunities to improve sales.
5. Selling and Product Distribution
  • Achieve assigned tertiary sales targets across all designated SKUs through direct selling.
  • Ensure applicable Trading Terms (TTS) and retail discounts are correctly utilized.
  • Increase numeric distribution across the assigned territory.
  • Ensure company merchandising and product availability standards are implemented in stores.
  • Implement cycle priorities and point-of-sale activities according to company standards.
  • Identify sales opportunities during store visits and take appropriate action.
  • Install and maintain Point-of-Sale Materials (POSM) according to company standards.
6. Product Quality and Stock Management
  • Ensure proper stock rotation at customer outlets.
  • Help move slow-moving stock to faster-moving outlets where appropriate to minimize expiry or damage.
  • Ensure products are stored correctly.
  • Identify damaged products and process replacements according to the company's trade returns policy.
  • Monitor product quality and availability during every customer visit.
7. Customer Service and Relationship Management
  • Visit customers within the assigned territory according to the specified journey schedule.
  • Keep customers informed about current product prices and relevant changes.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with retailers and other trade partners.
  • Respond professionally to customer concerns and service needs.
  • Maintain good cooperation with customers throughout the assigned territory.
8. Sales Administration and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date sales administration records.
  • Submit all required sales and field reports on time through the company's mobility system.
  • Reconcile daily sales, collections, and company float.
  • Ensure all required mobile sales records are accurately captured.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
  • Basic Certificate in Sales and Marketing or a relevant field.
  • Additional training in sales, marketing, customer service, or FMCG operations is an added advantage.
Experience
  • At least 6 months of experience in the FMCG industry as a Sales Representative or in a related field.
  • Experience in field sales, route-to-market operations, direct selling, merchandising, or last-mile distribution is an advantage.

Additional Requirements
  • Valid Class B1 driving licence.
  • Knowledge and practical ability to ride or operate a Tuk Tuk.
  • Ability to work effectively in a field-based sales environment.
  • Access to a smartphone with sufficient capacity for the company's mobile sales applications. The stated requirement is 128 GB ROM and 4–6 GB RAM.
  • Willingness to work extensively in the assigned territory.
  • Ability to manage cash and sales transactions responsibly.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal Motor Bike/Tuk Tuk Field Sales Executive is energetic, organized, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently in the field. The candidate should be able to manage a high number of daily customer visits while maintaining accurate sales records and consistently achieving sales and distribution targets.
Experience in FMCG sales, route-to-market distribution, direct sales, merchandising, retail sales, or territory sales will be particularly valuable.
