Job Summary
The Legal Aid Officer will lead the provision of legal aid services to vulnerable communities by managing legal casework, collaborating with legal professionals and stakeholders, and promoting access to justice. The role requires a passionate legal professional committed to defending human rights and ensuring that disadvantaged individuals receive quality legal support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of legal aid services to vulnerable individuals and communities.
- Manage and oversee legal casework from intake to resolution.
- Provide legal advice, guidance, and representation where appropriate.
- Collaborate with lawyers, courts, government agencies, and partner organizations to facilitate access to justice.
- Support human rights advocacy initiatives and legal awareness campaigns.
- Ensure legal services are delivered professionally, ethically, and in accordance with applicable laws.
- Maintain accurate case records, documentation, and reports.
- Monitor legal matters and provide regular updates to management.
- Participate in community outreach activities that promote legal rights and access to justice.
- Perform any other duties assigned in support of the organization's legal services.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.
Experience Requirements
- Experience in human rights advocacy and legal aid services.
- Experience working with vulnerable communities or within the NGO sector is an added advantage.
