Medequip (U) Limited is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lab Technician / Biomedical Engineer to provide technical support in equipment installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and customer training.

Job Summary

The Lab Technician / Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for installing, commissioning, testing, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing biomedical and laboratory equipment.
The successful candidate will ensure that medical equipment performs reliably, meets technical specifications, and complies with safety and quality standards.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and experience handling biomedical or laboratory equipment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Installation and Commissioning of Equipment
  • Install biomedical and laboratory equipment at customer sites.
  • Perform equipment setup, configuration, and commissioning.
  • Conduct testing and validation to confirm proper operation.
  • Ensure installations meet manufacturer requirements and safety standards.
2. Equipment Maintenance and Repairs
  • Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory and medical equipment.
  • Carry out corrective maintenance and repair faulty systems.
  • Diagnose technical problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Replace defective components where necessary.
  • Maintain equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
3. Calibration and Performance Testing
  • Conduct equipment calibration according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Perform functional testing and performance verification.
  • Ensure equipment accuracy and reliability.
  • Maintain calibration records and technical reports.
4. Customer Training and Technical Support
  • Provide user training to healthcare professionals on equipment operation.
  • Demonstrate correct usage and safety procedures.
  • Respond to customer technical concerns.
  • Provide after-sales technical support.
5. Sales and Technical Support Activities
  • Support equipment demonstrations and product evaluations.
  • Assist during medical equipment presentations and tender processes.
  • Work closely with sales teams to provide technical information.
  • Support customer satisfaction and business growth initiatives.
6. Compliance and Documentation
  • Follow company policies and technical procedures.
  • Maintain service reports, maintenance records, and equipment documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications and recommended procedures.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have:
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Qualification from a recognised university or institution.
  • Knowledge of biomedical and laboratory equipment systems.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in:
    • Installation of biomedical equipment
    • Testing and commissioning
    • Equipment maintenance
    • Troubleshooting and repair
    • Calibration and performance verification
Experience working with hospitals, laboratories, medical equipment suppliers, or healthcare technology companies is an added advantage.
