Job Summary – Medical Records Assistant

The Medical Records Assistant will be responsible for the creation, maintenance, retrieval, filing, digitization, and secure management of patient medical records.
The role ensures that patient information is complete, accurate, confidential, and readily accessible while complying with hospital policies, healthcare documentation standards, and Uganda's data protection regulations.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting clinicians, improving patient care, and ensuring efficient hospital operations through effective health information management.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Records Management
The Medical Records Assistant will:
  • Register new patient files and maintain an accurate patient master index.
  • Retrieve, issue, track, and return patient files promptly.
  • File patient records accurately using established filing systems.
  • Ensure patient records are complete, legible, and properly organized.
  • Archive inactive medical records according to hospital policy.
