Job Summary – Import & Export Supervisor

The Import & Export Supervisor will oversee the complete import and export process, ensuring goods are cleared efficiently while complying with all customs and trade regulations.
The role involves working closely with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), the East African Community Customs Authorities (EACCA), freight forwarders, customs agents, transport providers, and other regulatory bodies to facilitate smooth international trade operations.

Key Responsibilities

The Import & Export Supervisor will:
  • Lead and coordinate end-to-end import and export operations.
  • Ensure timely customs clearance of imported and exported goods.
  • Maintain full compliance with URA, EACCA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with customs authorities, clearing agents, freight forwarders, and logistics partners.
  • Prepare and verify shipping, customs, and trade documentation.
  • Monitor shipment schedules and resolve delays or clearance issues.
  • Ensure accurate tariff classification and customs declarations.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to support supply chain activities.
  • Monitor import and export costs and recommend efficiency improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 5–8 years of experience in customs, import/export operations, or international logistics.
  • At least 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) regulations.
  • Good understanding of EACCA and customs clearance procedures.
  • Experience using ERP systems (SAP or similar).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • A valid driving permit.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
