Role Outline
Operate and maintain company motor vehicles to support DHL Supply Chain operations efficiently, safely, and in line with company standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain company motor vehicles as directed, efficiently and safely.
  • Fill in journey plans to ensure all trip details are captured accurately and on time.
  • Take full responsibility for the vehicle and goods assigned.
  • Report for duty at the scheduled start time and perform duties effectively throughout the shift.
  • Deliver goods on time, in full, and in good quality condition.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service at all times.
  • Follow all health and safety rules and workplace regulations.
  • Report all incidents and accidents to supervisors promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle at all times.
  • Operate within assigned routes and business operational areas.
  • Conduct vehicle and load inspections before departure and confirm journey plans.
  • Ensure PPE is used at all required times.
  • Report all vehicle defects in the defect book and ensure the truck remains in good condition.
  • Ensure goods match invoices in quantity, brand, and security before transport.
  • Observe safe driving practices, traffic rules, and speed limits.
  • Communicate effectively and timely at all times.
  • Verify loads with distributors upon arrival and supervise offloading.
  • Ensure delivery documents are signed, stamped, and properly accounted for (PODs).
  • Return PODs within required timelines.
  • Ensure goods and vehicle are secure during transit.
  • Verify final destination before departure to avoid delivery errors.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum education: Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE).
  • At least 6 years’ experience driving heavy goods vehicles.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic regulations and defensive driving (Smith training preferred).
  • Good English communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Uganda road network across all regions.
  • Valid driving permit (Classes B, C, C1, CE).
  • Clean driving record.
  • Preferred age: 30–35 years.
