Position Overview

The facility is urgently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Female Nurse to manage day-to-day nursing and patient advisory services within a community drug shop in Kyegegwa.
The successful candidate will provide primary nursing care, patient assessment, medication support, health counseling, and community healthcare services while ensuring patients receive professional and respectful care.
The ideal candidate should have strong patient care skills, good communication abilities, knowledge of basic nursing practices, and the ability to communicate effectively with local community members.

Job Purpose

To provide quality nursing care, patient advisory services, basic healthcare support, and medication guidance while ensuring safe and effective service delivery within the community drug shop facility.

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Triage and Care
  • Assess patient needs and provide appropriate basic nursing support.
  • Take and record patient vital signs.
  • Conduct basic patient assessments and identify health concerns.
  • Provide basic primary nursing care and first aid services.
  • Offer appropriate health guidance and support to patients.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Refer patients to appropriate healthcare facilities where necessary.
2. Medication Administration and Support
  • Assist in dispensing over-the-counter and prescribed medications according to approved guidelines.
  • Explain correct:
    • Dosage instructions
    • Medication administration procedures
    • Proper usage of medicines
  • Provide patients with clear information on medication use.
  • Support safe handling, storage, and management of pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Maintain proper medication records.
  • Monitor availability of essential medicines and report shortages.
3. Patient Consultation and Health Advisory Services
  • Provide clear health education and patient counseling.
  • Communicate healthcare information effectively to patients.
  • Offer health advice in local languages to ensure patient understanding and compliance.
  • Encourage patients to follow medical instructions.
  • Promote responsible medicine use and healthy practices.
  • Build positive relationships with community members.
4. Facility Maintenance and Pharmaceutical Support
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the facility.
  • Ensure pharmaceutical supplies are stored under proper conditions.
  • Maintain stock inventory records.
  • Monitor medicine and healthcare supply levels.
  • Ensure proper organization of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Report expired, damaged, or low-stock items.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

Education Requirements
Applicants must have:
  • Certificate or Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
Accepted qualifications include:
  • Enrolled Nurse
  • Registered Nurse
Language Proficiency
The successful candidate must be fluent in at least one of the following local languages:
  • Runyankole
  • Runyoro
  • Rutooro
Ability to communicate in these languages is essential for effective patient counseling and interaction with local clients.
Professional Experience
