About National Anti-Doping Organisation – Uganda (NADO-U)

The National Anti-Doping Organisation – Uganda (NADO-U) is an independent body established under the National Sports Act, 2023, as amended. The organisation is mandated to promote clean sport, protect athletes, and uphold the integrity of sport in Uganda.

NADO-U is inviting applications from suitably qualified Ugandan citizens for 7 Doping Control Officer positions to support doping control and sample collection activities in accordance with applicable anti-doping standards and procedures.

Job Purpose

The Doping Control Officer will conduct and oversee doping control sample collection missions in accordance with NADO-U procedures and applicable World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) standards and guidelines.

The officer will be responsible for protecting athlete rights, maintaining sample integrity and confidentiality, ensuring proper chain of custody, and accurately completing all required doping control documentation.

Key Responsibilities
 
  • Conduct doping control sample collection missions in accordance with NADO-U procedures and applicable WADA standards and guidelines.
  • Ensure athletes' rights and responsibilities are respected throughout the testing process.
  • Manage the chain of custody for collected samples to protect their integrity, security, and validity.
  • Complete Doping Control Forms and all other required testing documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Ensure samples are properly identified, secured, handled, stored, and transferred in accordance with established procedures.
  • Properly handle and maintain doping control kits, testing materials, and related equipment.
  • Educate athletes and relevant support personnel about testing procedures, requirements, and compliance obligations.
  • Explain the sample collection process clearly and professionally to athletes.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding athlete information, testing activities, and sample collection results.
  • Identify and report irregularities, refusals, delays, procedural concerns, or potential violations encountered during sample collection.
  • Work closely with Chaperones, Testing Officers, and other relevant personnel during doping control missions.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing activities and submit required reports within established timelines.
  • Ensure all testing activities are conducted professionally, ethically, and in accordance with applicable anti-doping requirements.
  • Perform any other duties related to doping control activities as assigned by the organisation.

Minimum Qualification

Applicants must possess an Honours Bachelor's Degree from a recognised institution in one of the following fields:
 
  • Sports Administration and Management
  • Education or Teaching
  • Health Sciences
  • Public Health
  • Sports Science
  • Medical Sciences

Mandatory Professional Requirement

Applicants must be trained and certified by the Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (RADO), Zone Five.

Candidates who do not meet this mandatory training and certification requirement may not be eligible for consideration.

Additional Experience
 
  • Previous experience in anti-doping activities is an added advantage.
  • Experience as an athlete is an added advantage.
  • Experience in sports administration, health, education, sports science, or related fields may be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of anti-doping procedures and athlete testing protocols is an advantage.

Working Environment

The Doping Control Officer position is primarily field-based and may require travel to sporting events, competitions, training venues, and other locations where doping control activities are conducted.

As the position is offered on an on-need basis, successful candidates should be flexible and available to undertake assignments according to NADO-U's operational requirements.

The role may also require work outside normal working hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, depending on sporting events and testing schedules.

Salary and Benefits

The position is offered on an on-need basis, with a facilitation allowance provided upon completion of the assignment.

Specific facilitation arrangements will be determined by NADO-U in accordance with the applicable assignment and organisational guidelines.
