JOB SUMMARY
Twyford International Uganda is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Commercial Supervisor – Government & Stakeholder Relations to manage government relations, regulatory affairs, stakeholder engagement, and commercial liaison activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with government institutions, regulators, industrial park authorities, community leaders, and other key stakeholders. The role will also involve facilitating permits and operational approvals, monitoring regulatory developments, resolving regulatory challenges, and representing the company in meetings and negotiations.
This is an important government relations and commercial affairs job in Uganda for a professional with strong stakeholder management skills, knowledge of regulatory processes, and experience operating within industrial parks or industrial zones.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs
- Manage government relations and regulatory affairs on behalf of Twyford International Uganda.
- Maintain professional relationships with relevant government ministries, departments, agencies, and regulators.
- Monitor government policies, regulations, and developments that may affect company operations.
- Advise management on relevant regulatory requirements and potential business implications.
- Support the company in maintaining compliance with applicable government regulations.
2. Permits, Licences and Approvals
- Facilitate the acquisition and renewal of necessary permits, licences, certificates, and operational approvals.
- Coordinate with government agencies and regulatory authorities to ensure timely processing of applications.
- Follow up on regulatory documentation and approvals required for business operations.
- Identify and address potential delays or challenges affecting regulatory approvals.
3. Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders.
- Engage industrial park management and authorities on matters affecting company operations.
- Maintain constructive relationships with community leaders and representatives.
- Coordinate stakeholder meetings and consultations.
- Promote positive relationships between the company, government, communities, and other stakeholders.
4. Regulatory Monitoring and Advisory
- Monitor changes in laws, regulations, policies, and government directives.
- Assess how regulatory changes may affect the company's operations.
- Provide timely updates and recommendations to management.
- Support management in making informed decisions regarding regulatory and government affairs.
5. Problem Solving and Resolution
- Identify and resolve operational and regulatory challenges.
- Liaise with relevant government authorities when issues arise.
- Escalate significant regulatory or stakeholder matters to management.
- Develop practical solutions that support uninterrupted business operations.
6. Representation and Negotiations
- Represent Twyford International Uganda in government, regulatory, community, and stakeholder meetings.
- Participate in negotiations with government institutions and other external stakeholders.
- Communicate the company's interests professionally and effectively.
- Maintain strong working relationships while protecting the company's commercial interests.
7. Reporting and Briefing
- Prepare regular reports on government relations and stakeholder activities.
- Prepare briefing materials for management meetings.
- Provide updates on permits, licences, regulatory matters, and stakeholder engagements.
- Maintain accurate records of government and stakeholder interactions.
8. Business Environment Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve the company's operating environment.
- Work with stakeholders to address challenges affecting business operations.
- Support initiatives that improve operational efficiency and regulatory relationships.
- Drive positive results through effective government and stakeholder engagement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in:
- Business Administration
- Public Administration
- Law
- International Relations
- Political Science
- or another related field.
- 6–10 years of relevant professional experience in government relations, public affairs, regulatory affairs, commercial liaison, or a related area.
- Proven experience working in or with industrial parks, industrial zones, manufacturing environments, or similar business settings.
- Demonstrated ability to engage government institutions, regulators, communities, and other stakeholders.
