About National Anti-Doping Organisation – Uganda (NADO-U)
The National Anti-Doping Organisation – Uganda (NADO-U) is an independent body established under the National Sports Act, 2023, as amended. The organisation is responsible for promoting clean sport, protecting athletes, and upholding the integrity of sport in Uganda.
NADO-U is inviting applications from suitably qualified Ugandan citizens for 20 Chaperone positions to support doping control activities and athlete testing missions.
Job Purpose
The Chaperone will support doping control missions by notifying athletes selected for testing and escorting them to the designated doping control station. The successful candidates will help ensure that athletes are properly informed about the testing process and remain under appropriate observation until the sample collection procedure is completed.
Key Responsibilities
- Notify athletes who have been selected for doping control testing in accordance with NADO-U guidelines and procedures.
- Escort selected athletes to the designated doping control station.
- Ensure athletes understand their rights and responsibilities during the sample collection process.
- Maintain appropriate observation of athletes throughout the athlete notification and escorting process.
- Assist Doping Control Officers with athlete handling and documentation procedures.
- Provide accurate information and support to athletes during doping control missions.
- Report any issues, refusals, delays, or unusual incidents encountered during athlete notification and escort.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respect when interacting with athletes.
- Support anti-doping awareness, education, and outreach activities where required.
- Follow NADO-U policies, procedures, and instructions during all assignments.
- Perform any other duties related to doping control activities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should meet one of the following qualification requirements:
- A Diploma in any academic field from a recognized institution or university; OR
- An O’ Level Certificate together with a recognized certificate of training as an Anti-Doping Chaperone.
Experience and Additional Requirements
- Previous experience in anti-doping activities is an added advantage.
- Experience as an athlete is an added advantage.
- Knowledge or understanding of anti-doping procedures and clean sport principles will be beneficial.
- Ability to interact respectfully and professionally with athletes and sports stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures accurately.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Ability to work on a flexible, assignment-based schedule.

Working Environment
The Chaperone position is primarily field-based and may require candidates to work at sporting events, training venues, competitions, and other locations where doping control missions are conducted.
Because assignments are based on operational needs, successful candidates should be prepared to work flexible hours and respond to assignments according to NADO-U requirements.
Salary and Benefits
The position is offered on an on-need basis, with a facilitation allowance provided upon completion of the assignment.
The specific facilitation arrangements will be determined by NADO-U in accordance with the applicable assignment and organisational guidelines.
