Job Summary

Absa Bank Uganda is seeking an experienced and results-driven Asset Finance Business Development Officer to support the bank’s Asset Finance strategy within the Business Banking (BB) segment, focusing on SME Enterprise and SME Micro customers.
The successful candidate will drive asset finance business growth by developing relationships with dealers, existing customers, and new-to-bank clients. The role involves identifying business opportunities, achieving revenue and portfolio targets, managing customer relationships, ensuring compliance, and delivering customer-focused asset finance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development (70%)
The successful candidate will:
  • Drive achievement of Asset Finance revenue and balance sheet targets.
  • Develop and execute sales action plans to grow Asset Finance business.
  • Source new business opportunities from:
    • Asset dealers
    • Existing customers
    • New-to-bank clients.
  • Work with Relationship Managers and branch teams to identify and process Asset Finance opportunities.
  • Conduct joint customer visits with Branch Managers and Relationship Managers.
  • Understand customer needs and provide suitable asset financing solutions.
  • Develop relationships with dealer partners to improve service delivery.
  • Conduct customer engagement activities, product sensitization, and sales activations.
  • Identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.
  • Monitor sales performance and prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Manage customer documentation to ensure compliance with bank procedures.
  • Support implementation of leasing and vehicle asset finance opportunities.
  • Train branch teams and stakeholders on Asset Finance products.
  • Participate in signing Vehicle Asset Finance (VAF) schemes with target companies.
  • Prepare customer visit reports and maintain accurate records.

2. Compliance and Risk Management (5%)

The role will ensure:
  • Compliance with banking regulations and internal policies.
  • Adherence to Asset Finance procedures and service level agreements.
  • Proper handling and escalation of administrative issues.
  • Effective complaint reporting and resolution.
  • Compliance with internal audit requirements.
  • Proper completion and submission of customer documentation.

3. Stakeholder Management (15%)

The successful candidate will manage relationships with:
Internal Stakeholders
  • Retail and Business Banking teams.
  • Credit and Securities departments.
  • Branch teams.
  • Operations teams.
  • Asset Finance colleagues.
External Stakeholders
  • Customers.
  • Asset dealers.
  • Insurance companies.
  • Vehicle tracking companies.
  • Auctioneers.
  • Other business partners.
Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting branches with Asset Finance processes.
  • Resolving customer queries and complaints.
  • Strengthening collaboration between departments.
  • Supporting achievement of team targets.

4. Market Intelligence (5%)

The role will involve:
  • Monitoring market trends affecting Asset Finance.
  • Researching competitor activities and market opportunities.
  • Gathering information from dealers, customers, publications, and industry networks.
  • Providing insights to improve business strategies.

Additional Responsibilities

The Asset Finance Business Development Officer will also:
  • Monitor post-approval documentation and loan release processes.
  • Follow up on arrears to maintain a healthy loan portfolio.
  • Track loan progress and customer applications.
  • Manage and grow existing Asset Finance portfolios.
  • Support dealer onboarding, training, and relationship management.
  • Manage Asset Finance Direct Sales Representatives within assigned regions.
  • Support Bancassurance and Insurance Premium Finance (IPF) growth.
  • Work with marketing teams on brand visibility activities.
  • Ensure agreed turnaround times (TATs) and service agreements are achieved.
  • Train branch Asset Finance champions.
  • Support complaint management processes.
  • Collect competitor and market intelligence.

Required Qualifications
