JOB SUMMARY

The Area Field Supervisor (AFS) acts as a critical link between Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) administration and field implementation.
Within the Venn Department, the AFS is responsible for maintaining the integrity of RTV’s data ecosystem by supervising field data collection activities and ensuring that information collected is accurate, timely, reliable, and cost-effective.
The role involves leading field teams, troubleshooting mobile data collection systems, improving data collection methodologies, and supporting RTV’s mission to impact one million lives annually.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Data Integrity & Quality Assurance
  • Lead pre-deployment testing of mobile data collection tools.
  • Verify functionality of survey logic, skip patterns, and validation rules.
  • Conduct real-time monitoring of enumerators during fieldwork.
  • Carry out spot checks to eliminate bias and ensure compliance with RTV data protocols.
  • Support data quality assurance activities including:
    • Audio audits
    • Remote call-backs
    • Verification exercises
  • Promote and enforce ethical data collection standards.
  • Ensure adherence to data integrity and research ethics guidelines.
2. Field Leadership & Capacity Building
  • Supervise and mentor Field Supervisors and Enumerators.
  • Build a culture of accountability, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Conduct technical training on:
    • Survey methodologies
    • Mobile data collection tools
    • Data quality standards
  • Serve as the regional focal point for identifying project risks and operational challenges.
  • Escalate technical and logistical issues to the Venn team for timely resolution.
  • Lead Training of Trainers (ToT) initiatives for field teams.
3. Operational Planning & Resource Management
  • Coordinate deployment schedules for enumerators.
  • Ensure survey activities are completed within established timelines.
  • Work with short-term contractors and field teams to ensure cost-efficient implementation.
  • Manage regional DCI inventory and equipment.
  • Ensure all devices and field equipment remain functional and accounted for.
4. Technical Innovation
  • Identify opportunities to improve data reliability using mobile data collection technologies.
  • Utilize advanced features such as:
    • GPS tracking
    • Audio audits
    • Automated validations
  • Support development of more efficient and secure data collection workflows.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of field data systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Statistics
    • Economics
    • Quantitative Economics
    • Monitoring and Evaluation
    • Or a related field
Added Advantage
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation or a related discipline.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two (2) years of practical experience in:
    • Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
    • Data collection
    • Field research
    • Survey implementation
  • NGO sector experience is highly desirable.
