Job Description – Social Worker (Community Economic Empowerment) | Namuwongo, Kampala
Uganda Hands for Hope is seeking a passionate and experienced Social Worker to support vulnerable children and families by leading community economic empowerment initiatives aimed at transforming households from dependency to financial resilience.
The role focuses on delivering livelihood support programs, facilitating financial and business literacy training, managing micro-credit and income-generating activities, and ensuring strong safeguarding practices within the community.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead community economic empowerment and livelihood programs for vulnerable families
  • Support vulnerable children and households through structured social work interventions
  • Facilitate business skills and financial literacy training sessions
  • Manage and support micro-credit and income-generating activities
  • Promote financial resilience and sustainable household development
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and child protection standards are upheld
  • Work closely with community stakeholders in Namuwongo, Kampala
  • Collect and manage program data for reporting and monitoring purposes
  • Engage directly with families to assess needs and provide appropriate support
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Business, Development Studies, Microfinance, or related field
  • 2–3 years’ experience in community development, livelihoods, or micro-credit programs
  • Strong English and Luganda communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data management tools
  • Passion for community transformation and social impact
Location
Namuwongo, Kampala, Uganda
Salary
UGX 550,000 – 900,000 (depending on experience)
Includes lunch allowance and basic medical coverage
