Our client is a reputable educational institution in Uganda offering Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary School education. With more than 20 years of dedicated service, a team of approximately 230 staff members, and an enrollment of over 3,000 learners, the institution is committed to delivering quality education, learner development, and academic excellence.
The school is seeking qualified and experienced Secondary School Teachers in both Science and Arts subjects to join its teaching team and support learners in achieving strong academic outcomes.
Job Summary – Secondary School Teacher
The Secondary School Teacher will be responsible for delivering quality classroom instruction, preparing lessons, assessing learners’ progress, maintaining classroom discipline, and supporting students’ academic and personal development.
The successful candidates should demonstrate strong subject knowledge, effective teaching methods, excellent communication skills, and commitment to creating a positive learning environment.
Available Positions:
- Science Subject Teachers – 5 Positions
- Arts Subject Teachers – 4 Positions
Key Responsibilities of Secondary School Teachers
1. Teaching and Lesson Delivery
- Prepare and deliver engaging lessons according to the approved curriculum.
- Teach assigned subjects effectively using appropriate teaching methods.
- Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, and classroom activities.
- Ensure learners understand concepts through effective explanation and demonstrations.
- Use modern teaching approaches to improve learner participation and performance.
2. Learner Assessment and Academic Support
- Prepare examinations, tests, assignments, and continuous assessment activities.
- Evaluate learner performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate academic records and performance reports.
- Identify learners requiring additional support and provide guidance.
- Support students in improving academic performance.
3. Classroom Management
- Maintain a safe, disciplined, and supportive classroom environment.
- Promote respect, responsibility, and positive behavior among learners.
- Monitor student attendance and participation.
- Implement school policies and classroom management strategies.
4. Curriculum Development and School Activities
- Participate in departmental meetings and academic planning.
- Contribute to curriculum improvement initiatives.
- Support co-curricular activities, clubs, and school events.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers and school administrators.
5. Student Mentorship and Guidance
- Provide academic guidance and mentorship to learners.
- Encourage positive values, discipline, and personal development.
- Support learners’ social and emotional growth.
- Build professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or relevant qualification in the subject area.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ teaching experience in a secondary school environment.
- Strong knowledge of the Uganda secondary school curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work professionally with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Commitment to learner-centered teaching approaches.
