Job Summary

The Nurture Space Assistant will be responsible for managing and maintaining the IDI Nurture Space, ensuring a clean, safe, hygienic, and supportive environment for nursing mothers and their children.
The successful candidate will provide daily operational support, maintain childcare standards, manage registrations and records, monitor children's wellbeing, and ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, and childcare policies.
The role requires strong childcare knowledge, excellent communication skills, confidentiality, patience, and the ability to create a caring and stimulating environment for young children.

Key Responsibilities

1. Nurture Space Management and Operations
  • Ensure the Nurture Space is clean, hygienic, organised, and ready for daily operations.
  • Prepare rooms and facilities before children and mothers access the space.
  • Maintain proper arrangement and availability of childcare resources and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
  • Monitor the general condition and functionality of Nurture Space facilities.
2. Childcare and Wellbeing Support
  • Provide a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children.
  • Monitor children's daily wellbeing and behaviour.
  • Ensure children receive appropriate attention, care, and supervision.
  • Keep parents and supervisors informed about children's conditions.
  • Identify children who may require additional attention or support.
  • Advise parents and supervisors regarding children who show signs of illness or health concerns.
3. Registration and Documentation
  • Maintain accurate registration records for children, mothers, and minders accessing the Nurture Space.
  • Maintain confidential records relating to children and their parents.
  • Track usage of the facility and maintain schedules for nursing mothers.
  • Compile and submit monthly reports on Nurture Space activities.
  • Maintain proper documentation in line with IDI policies.
4. Health, Safety and Hygiene Management
  • Ensure toys and play areas are regularly cleaned and sterilised.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy childcare environment.
  • Reject admission of children who are visibly unwell or above the approved age limit.
  • Ensure childcare practices comply with health and safety requirements.
  • Promote hygiene practices among users of the Nurture Space.
5. Parent and Employee Support
  • Provide support and guidance to nursing mothers using the facility.
  • Coordinate monthly meetings with parents.
  • Address minor operational concerns within the Nurture Space.
  • Escalate issues requiring management attention.
  • Ensure fair access to the facility among eligible nursing mothers.
6. Administration and Policy Implementation
  • Ensure adherence to all Nurture Space policies and procedures.
  • Support budgeting and operational planning for the facility.
  • Suggest improvements to childcare procedures and service delivery.
  • Participate in IDI activities as assigned by supervisors.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should possess:
Academic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Handling and Care or a related field.
  • Professional training certificate in early childhood care is an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
  • At least one year of experience caring for young children in environments such as:
    • Preschool
    • Daycare centres
    • Baby care facilities
    • Orphanages
    • Children's homes
    • Related childcare environments
  • Experience managing childcare equipment and resources.
  • Experience in customer service, healthcare, wellness, or employee support roles is an added advantage.
