LECTURER / SENIOR LECTURER (LAW SCHOOL) – DEPUTY DEAN POSITION

JOB SUMMARY
Universal Technology and Management University (UTAMU) is seeking a highly qualified Lawyer with a PhD from a reputable institution to join the UTAMU Law School. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in accordance with UTAMU policy and may serve as Deputy Dean of the Law School.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will be responsible for teaching, research, academic leadership, and student mentorship within the Law School. The role also includes contributing to curriculum development and potentially serving in a leadership capacity as Deputy Dean.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as Deputy Dean of the Law School (where applicable)
  • Conduct lectures, seminars, and tutorials for LLB and LLM students
  • Develop and deliver innovative and engaging teaching materials
  • Provide academic guidance, supervision, and mentorship to students
  • Participate in curriculum development and academic program enhancement
  • Conduct high-quality research and contribute to scholarly publications
  • Supervise postgraduate students’ research and dissertations
  • Participate in departmental and university academic activities
  • Contribute to academic policy development and institutional growth
  • Engage in community and professional legal scholarship activities

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized institution
  • Master of Laws (LLM) from a recognized institution
  • PhD in Law from a recognized institution
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice is an added advantage
  • Evidence of peer-reviewed and refereed publications
  • Experience in teaching and postgraduate student supervision is an added advantage

  • University-level teaching and lecturing experience
  • Curriculum development and academic planning skills
  • Leadership and administrative capability
  • Mentorship and student supervision skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to contribute to scholarly legal discourse
