Job Overview

Twyford International Uganda is seeking a skilled and reliable IT Specialist to provide technical support, maintain IT infrastructure, and ensure the effective operation of technology services supporting the company’s business and warehouse operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting users, managing IT systems, maintaining networks, ensuring cybersecurity controls, managing IT assets, and providing technical assistance for warehouse technology solutions.
This role requires strong knowledge of computer hardware, software support, networking, ERP systems, warehouse management systems, cybersecurity practices, and IT infrastructure management.

Job Purpose

To provide reliable IT support, maintain IT infrastructure and systems, and ensure the availability, security, and effective operation of technology services supporting Twyford International Uganda’s business and warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. IT Support and User Assistance
  • Provide first-line and second-line technical support to employees.
  • Diagnose and resolve:
    • Hardware issues
    • Software problems
    • Network challenges
    • System-related incidents
  • Install, configure, and maintain:
    • Desktop computers
    • Laptops
    • Printers
    • Other IT equipment
  • Create, manage, and maintain user accounts and access permissions according to company policies.
  • Support password management and user access requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets and equipment.
  • Provide timely technical support to ensure minimum disruption to business operations.

2. Network and Infrastructure Support

  • Support installation, configuration, and maintenance of:
    • Local Area Networks (LAN)
    • Internet connectivity
    • Network devices
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Support maintenance of:
    • Servers
    • Switches
    • Routers
    • Wireless access points
    • Other network equipment
  • Coordinate with internet service providers and technical vendors to resolve connectivity challenges.
  • Assist in improving network reliability and availability.

3. Systems and Business Applications Support

  • Provide technical support for:
    • ERP systems
    • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
    • Business applications
    • Other company technology platforms
  • Assist users in effectively utilizing business systems and applications.
  • Escalate complex system issues to relevant technical teams or service providers.
  • Support:
    • System updates
    • Software testing
    • System implementation activities
  • Ensure business applications operate effectively to support company operations.

4. IT Security and Data Protection

  • Implement and monitor basic IT security controls.
  • Support:
    • Antivirus protection
    • Endpoint security
    • System security measures
  • Assist with:
    • User access control
    • Password management
    • Security compliance procedures
  • Support regular data backup procedures.
  • Monitor and report:
    • Suspected security breaches
    • Unauthorized access attempts
    • IT security risks
  • Promote safe and secure use of company technology resources.

5. IT Asset and Equipment Management

  • Maintain an updated IT asset register.
  • Track and monitor IT equipment including:
    • Computers
    • Printers
    • Network devices
    • Other technology equipment
  • Monitor condition, usage, and performance of IT assets.
  • Coordinate:
    • Repairs
    • Maintenance
    • Replacement of IT equipment
  • Ensure all IT equipment is:
    • Properly configured
    • Secured
    • Maintained

6. Warehouse and Operational IT Support

  • Support IT systems used in warehouse operations, including:
    • Inventory systems
    • Stock management systems
    • Warehouse applications
  • Provide technical support for:
    • Barcode scanners
    • Printers
    • Computers
    • Other warehouse technology equipment
  • Ensure IT systems supporting:
    • Receiving
    • Issuing
    • Documentation
    • Stock control
remain operational.
  • Provide timely technical support to minimize warehouse and operational disruptions.
  • Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure smooth technology operations.

7. IT Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of:
    • IT incidents
    • Repairs
    • Service requests
    • Technical resolutions
  • Prepare IT performance and incident reports.
  • Document:
    • IT procedures
    • Troubleshooting guides
    • Technical solutions
  • Monitor IT-related risks and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain proper IT documentation for operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

Education Requirements
Applicants should have:
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Information Technology
    • Computer Science

    • Related IT field

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in:
    • IT Support
    • Systems Administration
    • Network Support

    • Related IT roles

  • Network infrastructure management
  • Manufacturing IT environments
