MTN Uganda is looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Analyst – Financial Operations to support financial reporting, reconciliation, revenue validation, financial controls, and operational excellence across its Mobile Money operations.

Job Summary

The Financial Analyst – Financial Operations will ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial operations across assigned MTN Mobile Money operating companies.
The successful candidate will perform financial reconciliations, validate transaction revenues and commissions, monitor receivables and liquidity, review journals, prepare management reports, support audit activities, and work closely with Finance, Technology, and Operations teams to strengthen financial controls and improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Data Management
The successful candidate will:
  • Develop and maintain financial and management reports using FCCS and EPBSC platforms.
  • Support financial data integration and loading across Hyperion and Vena systems.
  • Ensure financial data is complete, accurate, and available for reporting.
  • Perform reconciliations across multiple financial systems to ensure data consistency.
  • Identify discrepancies and improve financial data integrity.
Reconciliation & Financial Operations
Responsibilities include:
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of Mobile Money trust accounts.
  • Reconcile Ericsson Wallet Platform (EWP), bank statements, and financial systems.
  • Reconcile restricted cash and prefunded accounts with the General Ledger.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences within agreed timelines.
  • Monitor customer liquidations and investigate delayed settlements.
  • Prepare reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation for audits and month-end reporting.
Revenue & Commission Validation
The role holder will:
  • Recalculate and validate daily and weekly Mobile Money transaction revenue.
  • Verify revenue before posting to the General Ledger.
  • Recognize outstanding revenues as receivables where applicable.
  • Validate online and offline agent commissions.
  • Perform commission variance analysis.
  • Monitor revenue liquidation and fund transfers.
  • Analyze commission calculations for completeness and accuracy.
Financial Controls & Compliance
The successful candidate will:
  • Review journals posted within Mobile Money systems for compliance with accounting standards.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for audits and management reporting.
  • Track audit findings and support timely implementation of corrective actions.
  • Strengthen financial controls across Mobile Money operations.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing operational risk.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:
  • Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Finance
    • Accounting
    • Economics
    • Or another related discipline.

Professional Qualifications

The following certifications will be an added advantage:
  • ACCA
  • CPA
  • CIMA
  • CFA

Experience

Applicants should have:
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience.
