In addition, Mtindo runs a tailoring academy that equips women with practical skills in fashion design, tailoring, and entrepreneurship, enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to community development.

Job Summary
Mtindo is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Finance & Operations Officer to support the organization’s daily financial and operational activities.
The role is responsible for maintaining accurate bookkeeping records, supporting inventory and costing processes, ensuring data integrity, and assisting in operational reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening Mtindo’s financial systems as the organization transitions toward more structured and ERP-driven operations.

Purpose of the Role
The Finance & Operations Officer serves as the backbone of Mtindo’s financial and operational data systems.
The role ensures that all financial transactions, production data, and inventory records are accurately captured, verified, and maintained. This position also supports the organization’s goal of building reliable, process-driven systems that will form the foundation for future ERP implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Records
Maintain accurate daily bookkeeping records including invoices, receipts, and expense vouchers.
Manage petty cash operations, including daily cash counts, reconciliation, and replenishment requests.
Process supplier and staff payments in accordance with approved budgets and Local Purchase Orders (LPOs).
Reconcile bank statements and support month-end closing activities.
Costing & Inventory Management
Maintain and update batch costing records for production activities, tracking costs from raw materials to finished goods.
Ensure alignment between actual production costs and client billing assumptions.
Maintain accurate inventory records and support periodic stock counts.
Identify and report discrepancies in stock levels, vendor invoices, and production costs to management.
Reporting & Data Quality
Prepare regular financial and operational reports including cash flow summaries, expense trackers, and stock reports.
Maintain accurate and well-organized SKU lists, vendor databases, and cost records.
Support internal audits and due diligence processes by ensuring proper documentation is available and well structured.
Administrative & Operational Support
Assist in managing accounts payable and receivable to support cash flow management.
Provide general administrative support to the finance and operations team as required.

Qualifications
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • Progress toward CPA or ACCA qualification is an added advantage
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Microsoft 365, or Google Workspace

Experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance-related roles
  • Experience in manufacturing, apparel, or production environments is an added advantage
Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong attention to detail, high levels of accuracy, and excellent organizational skills.
The role requires someone who is disciplined, reliable, and able to manage daily, weekly, and monthly reporting deadlines efficiently.
A strong interest in social enterprise, vocational training, and production-based operations is highly desirable.
The candidate should be comfortable working in a hands-on environment, including physically verifying inventory and supporting production-related financial tracking.
