NFT Consult is recruiting a Credit Analyst on behalf of a specialized export financing institution supporting Uganda’s exporters through innovative, affordable, and sustainable financial solutions.

Job Summary

The Credit Analyst will evaluate, structure, and monitor financing facilities to support sound credit decisions and maintain a high-quality loan portfolio.
The successful candidate will analyze financial information, assess credit risks, prepare financing recommendations, and support the development of export finance solutions.
This role requires a highly analytical professional with experience in credit analysis, trade finance, financial modelling, risk assessment, and export-sector financing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Credit Analysis and Financial Assessment

The Credit Analyst will:
  • Conduct detailed credit appraisals for export clients.
  • Analyze financial statements, business models, and operational performance.
  • Evaluate SMEs and corporate borrowers seeking financing.
  • Assess borrower repayment capacity and financial sustainability.
  • Review cash flow projections and business forecasts.
  • Prepare detailed credit assessment reports.

2. Trade Finance and Export Financing Assessment

Responsibilities include evaluating financing solutions such as:
  • Letters of credit (LCs)
  • Pre-shipment finance
  • Post-shipment finance
  • Invoice discounting
  • Structured commodity finance
The role will:
  • Assess risks associated with export transactions.
  • Review trade documentation and financing structures.
  • Develop recommendations aligned with credit policies.
  • Support exporters in accessing appropriate financial solutions.

3. Credit Proposal Development

The Credit Analyst will:
  • Prepare comprehensive credit proposals for review by the Credit Committee.
  • Present credit recommendations based on financial analysis.
  • Evaluate:
    • Business performance
    • Collateral quality
    • Industry risks
    • Market conditions
    • Repayment ability
  • Recommend suitable financing structures based on organizational risk appetite.

4. Risk Management and Portfolio Monitoring

Key duties include:
  • Monitor assigned credit portfolios.
  • Identify emerging credit risks.
  • Recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Track borrower performance and compliance.
  • Ensure early identification of potential repayment challenges.
  • Support maintenance of a healthy loan portfolio.

5. Client and Stakeholder Engagement

The role will involve:
  • Engage exporters and financing clients.
  • Liaise with:
    • Banks
    • Trade partners
    • Financial institutions
    • Business stakeholders
  • Verify client information and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with financing requirements.
  • Develop strong professional relationships with clients.

6. Export Finance Product Development

Responsibilities include:
  • Support development of innovative export financing solutions.
  • Contribute to value chain financing models.
  • Support supplier financing initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve exporter access to finance.

7. Compliance and Policy Implementation

The Credit Analyst will:
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies.
  • Follow regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate credit documentation.
  • Apply best practices in export finance and risk management.

8. SME Exporter Support and Financial Capacity Building

Responsibilities include:
  • Support exporters with financial documentation readiness.
  • Provide guidance on financial management practices.
  • Assist SMEs in understanding financing requirements.
  • Contribute to financial literacy initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

Academic Qualifications
Applicants should have:
Bachelor’s Degree in:
  • Finance
  • Accounting
  • Economics
  • Business Administration
  • Related field

Professional Certifications

Added advantage:
  • ACCA
  • CPA
  • CFA
  • Credit Risk Certification
  • Other relevant finance certifications

Professional Experience

Candidates should have:
  • 2–4 years of progressive experience in:
    • Credit analysis
    • Credit risk management
    • Trade finance
    • Banking
    • Export financing
    • Commodity trading
Experience in the following sectors is highly desirable:
  • Coffee exports
  • Petroleum sector
  • Agro-processing
  • Commodity value chains
