Job Summary
The Central Cash/Clearing Officer will support efficient, controlled, and customer-focused clearing, central cash, posting, and validation operations for Standard Chartered Bank Uganda.
The role is responsible for processing financial transactions, reconciling accounts, supporting settlement activities, managing operational risks, and ensuring compliance with banking procedures and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality banking operations while supporting service improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clearing and Transaction Operations
The Central Cash/Clearing Officer will:
  • Coordinate daily clearing, central cash, posting, and validation activities.
  • Process customer cheques, electronic fund transfers, and internal banking entries.
  • Validate transactions according to approved banking procedures.
  • Monitor transaction processing timelines and service standards.
  • Ensure accurate handling of clearing transactions.
2. Transaction Reconciliation and Settlement
Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting timely settlement of inward and outward clearing transactions.
  • Performing daily account reconciliations.
  • Reviewing transaction exceptions and unusual cases.
  • Investigating discrepancies and supporting corrective actions.
  • Ensuring transaction records are complete and accurate.
3. Operational Risk and Compliance
The officer will:
  • Identify operational risks affecting clearing and cash operations.
  • Escalate compliance concerns and control weaknesses.
  • Ensure adherence to banking policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support implementation of internal controls.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for audit and regulatory reviews.
4. Process Improvement and Automation
The role will support:
  • Improvement of clearing and payment processes.
  • Automation initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency.
  • Reduction of operational errors and processing delays.
  • Cost optimization initiatives.

5. Stakeholder Management
