Job Description

ACCOUNTANT – HOSPITALITY/RESORT

 
PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION
 
  • Assist with payroll processing, ensuring that all employee compensation, including wages, bonuses, and benefits, is accurate and paid on time.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll-related taxes and deductions while maintaining accurate records for each employee.
  • Provide support in preparing employee benefit reports.
  • Manage payroll deductions and assist with resolving payroll-related queries.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling employee payroll information.

8. FINANCIAL ANALYSIS & REPORTING
 
  • Provide financial analysis and performance reports to the senior management team to support informed decision-making.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as requested by management.
  • Conduct profitability analyses for new services, departments, or business initiatives.
  • Prepare cost analyses for specific departments and operational activities.
  • Help identify financial trends, variances, and areas of concern that may affect the resort’s operations or profitability.
  • Support management in interpreting financial information and developing appropriate financial responses.

9. COLLABORATION & FINANCIAL SUPPORT
 
  • Work closely with the resort’s operational departments, including Sales, Food & Beverage (F&B), Front Desk, and other departments, to ensure financial data is accurate and current.
  • Ensure financial objectives are aligned with the resort’s overall business goals.
  • Provide support to department heads with financial inquiries.
  • Offer guidance to department heads on budget management, expenditure control, and financial performance.
  • Collaborate with senior management on long-term financial planning and strategy development for the resort.
  • Support cross-functional teams in understanding financial information and its impact on operational performance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 
Education
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) is an added advantage but not mandatory.

Professional Experience
 
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of accounting experience.
  • Previous accounting experience in a hospitality, hotel, or resort environment is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax laws, and financial reporting.
  • Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Oracle, or similar systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

 
Financial Analysis

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to management.

Financial Reporting

Ability to prepare accurate financial reports and communicate financial performance clearly to senior management and other stakeholders.

Accounting Knowledge

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, taxation, reconciliations, and financial record keeping.

Attention to Detail

High level of accuracy and attention to detail when processing transactions, preparing reports, and maintaining financial records.

Time Management

Ability to manage multiple accounting responsibilities, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Communication Skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Hospitality Accounting
 
Knowledge of hospitality-specific accounting matters is an advantage, including:
 
  • Room revenue recognition.
  • Cost of goods sold.
  • Food and beverage operations.
  • Departmental revenue and expenditure.
  • Hotel or resort operating costs.
  • Hospitality budgeting and financial performance.

  • Sit for long periods while reviewing financial data, accounting records, and reports.
  • Occasionally lift files or financial records weighing up to 5 kg.
