AYFI is inviting passionate and multilingual individuals to serve as Volunteer Translators during the High-Level Youth Dialogue with Policy-Makers Summit. This volunteer opportunity provides practical experience in translation, international communications, event coordination, and multicultural engagement while supporting one of the region’s leading youth dialogue events.

Job Summary

The Volunteer Translator will support communication between delegates, speakers, international guests, partners, and organizers by providing accurate translation and language support before, during, and after the summit. The volunteer will also assist with translating written materials, event documents, presentations, and communications while ensuring clear understanding among participants from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Translation & Language Support
  • Translate written documents, presentations, and summit materials accurately.
  • Provide language support to delegates, speakers, and international guests.
  • Assist with interpreting conversations during meetings and summit sessions where required.
  • Ensure translations maintain the intended meaning and cultural context.
  • Support multilingual communication across various event activities.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Facilitate communication between participants speaking different languages.
  • Support communication before, during, and after the summit.
  • Assist with responding to participant inquiries requiring translation support.
  • Collaborate with communications and media teams to ensure effective multilingual messaging.
  • Promote inclusive communication among all summit participants.
Event Coordination Support
  • Assist with planning and implementation of summit activities.
  • Support participant registration and guest information services where necessary.
  • Participate in volunteer orientation, training, and briefing sessions.
  • Help coordinate language services during official sessions and networking events.
  • Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed timelines.
Documentation & Administrative Support
  • Translate reports, event records, and official documentation.
  • Assist with preparing multilingual communication materials.
  • Organise translated documents for easy access and distribution.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Support administrative duties assigned by the Volunteer Coordinator.
Teamwork & Professional Conduct
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers, staff, speakers, and partners.
  • Represent AYFI professionally throughout the summit.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting multiple operational functions.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders.

Minimum Qualifications
