Job Description

 

UN Regional Service Centre Entebbe (RSCE) is hiring for a Finance Assistant role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide financial advice, interpretations, and corrective actions in line with UN Financial Regulations and Rules
  • Process travel and non-travel vendor invoices (purchase orders, commitments, medical invoices, petty cash, imprest)
  • Assist in annual budget preparation, cost estimates, and budget proposals
  • Review and analyze budget data and Result-Based Budgeting (RBB) inputs
  • Support staffing and operational cost estimates
  • Populate supplementary budget and staffing forms
  • Receive, review, and verify invoices and supporting documents
  • Process vendor payments after verification with purchase orders and service certifications
  • Advise vendors and internal units on missing documentation and payment delays
  • Maintain records of pending issues and case files
  • Respond to queries from vendors, procurement, and internal units
  • Support KPI monitoring and performance tracking
  • Process payroll and non-payroll payments, bank transfers, and cheques
  • Maintain and update staff banking details
  • Process imprest payments and imprest statements
  • Liaise with banks for payment processing and transfers
  • Maintain accurate financial records for audits and compliance
  • Prepare financial reports and ad hoc finance documentation
  • Support resolution of open financial issues
  • Draft correspondence on finance matters
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical/vocational certificate in finance or accounting required
  • Training in Umoja (SAP) FI, FM, BI modules or similar ERP required
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in finance, accounting, or administration
  • Experience in UN Financial Rules and Regulations required
  • Experience in Umoja ERP desirable
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
