NFT Consult is recruiting for an Assistant Accountant position for a social enterprise in Uganda’s agro-processing sector.

Our client is a rapidly growing social enterprise in Uganda sourcing specialty cacao for export and producing bean-to-bar chocolate at origin. Working with over 1,000 certified organic smallholder farmers, the mission is to sustainably increase incomes, reduce risk for suppliers, and positively impact the community and environment surrounding operations.
The company provides chocolate makers and consumers with high-quality, transparently sourced, fully traceable Ugandan cocoa products.
Job Description
The Assistant Accountant is a full-time in-country position supporting both sourcing and chocolate operations in Uganda, reporting directly to the Accountant.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Support and oversee the work of 4–5 Accounts Assistants
  • Coordinate cash requirements planning (2-week and 4-week cycles)
  • Review payment accountability prior to approval
  • Organize and process bank payments for approval
  • Complete Odoo entries and expense categorization
  • Perform bank and inventory reconciliations (raw materials, packaging, finished goods, WIP)
  • Ensure daily operational entries for weekly reconciliation
  • Support retail sales and inventory reconciliation
  • Assist AR/AP tracking and follow-up
  • Support annual audit processes
  • Conduct routine audits of inventory and expenses
  • Support reporting for grants, loans, investors, and donors

Key Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in a related field
  • CPA or ACCA qualification required
  • 4+ years of experience in Africa or similar context
  • Experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
  • Must have knowledge of agriculture, agronomy, or agro-processing
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems
  • Willingness to travel to rural areas
  • Patience and adaptability
