Mandera Climate Resilience Institute (CRIM) – Research Associate

About the Organization
Mandera Climate Resilience Institute is expanding its interdisciplinary team of researchers, analysts, and practitioners working on climate resilience, environmental governance, climate finance, adaptation, and sustainability issues across Africa.
The Institute focuses on generating evidence-based research, influencing policy, strengthening climate governance systems, and promoting innovative solutions that support climate resilience and sustainable development.

Position: Research Associate

Job Summary
The Research Associate will support the Institute’s research, policy analysis, knowledge management, training, and stakeholder engagement initiatives. The role involves conducting research, producing policy and technical publications, supporting climate resilience programs, contributing to institutional learning, and participating in knowledge-sharing activities.
The successful candidate will work within multidisciplinary teams addressing climate change challenges and opportunities across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Analysis
  • Conduct research on climate resilience, climate governance, and environmental sustainability issues.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Support development of research methodologies and study designs.
  • Prepare research reports, technical papers, and analytical briefs.
Policy Analysis & Development
  • Analyze climate-related policies, frameworks, and regulatory developments.
  • Contribute to policy recommendations and evidence-based solutions.
  • Support policy dialogue and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Monitor emerging climate governance trends across Africa.
Knowledge Management & Publications
  • Contribute to institutional publications and research outputs.
  • Develop policy briefs, discussion papers, and knowledge products.
  • Support dissemination of research findings through reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Maintain research databases and knowledge repositories.
Training & Capacity Building
  • Support design and delivery of training programs and workshops.
  • Contribute to learning materials and climate resilience resources.
  • Assist in organizing conferences, seminars, and stakeholder forums.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with government agencies, development partners, research institutions, and community organizations.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing and networking activities.
  • Support partnerships and collaborative research initiatives.
Climate Resilience & Sustainability Programs
  • Support projects related to:
    • Climate Adaptation
    • Climate Governance
    • Climate Finance
    • Carbon Markets
    • Environmental Governance
