SALES OFFICER / TERRITORY SALES REPRESENTATIVE

d.light Uganda
Location: Uganda
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Sales Officer is responsible for driving sales growth, revenue generation, portfolio quality, customer acquisition, and collections within an assigned territory. The role involves managing sales channels, supervising Sales & Engagement Partners (SEPs), supporting retail outlets, expanding distribution networks, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring the achievement of sales and portfolio targets for both Cash and PAYGO d.light products.
The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing d.light’s Route-to-Market (RTM) strategy, expanding market penetration, improving portfolio health, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Sales Growth & Revenue Generation
  • Drive sales of Cash and PAYGO d.light products within the assigned territory.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Generate new business opportunities and expand market reach.
  • Support direct selling activities through retail outlets and distribution channels.
  • Create awareness and promote d.light products within designated geographies.
Customer Acquisition & Business Development
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard new customers.
  • Continuously expand the customer base within assigned territories.
  • Develop strategies to increase product adoption and market penetration.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and long-term engagement.
Sales Partner & Channel Management
  • Recruit and manage quality Sales & Engagement Partners (SEPs).
  • Monitor and support sales agents to achieve assigned sales targets.
  • Ensure effective stock distribution across retail outlets.
  • Strengthen relationships with distributors, retailers, and channel partners.
  • Support activation of new sales channels including:
    • Experience Centers
    • Phone Shops
    • Retail Distributors
Portfolio Management & Collections
  • Ensure quality customer onboarding and portfolio growth.
  • Maintain delinquency levels below the prescribed threshold.
  • Monitor customer repayment performance and payment trends.
  • Review newly onboarded customers to assess payment behavior.
  • Follow up on outstanding payments and overdue accounts.
  • Implement corrective actions to improve repayment performance.
  • Support portfolio quality and risk management initiatives.
Market Intelligence & Customer Support
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences.
  • Gather customer feedback and address complaints promptly.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and market challenges.
  • Provide regular market intelligence reports and recommendations.
  • Ensure customer concerns are resolved effectively.
Stock & Inventory Management
  • Ensure adequate stock availability across all assigned outlets.
  • Monitor inventory levels and stock movement.
  • Supervise stock management processes within assigned locations.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory management procedures.
  • Support stock safety and accountability measures.
Route-to-Market (RTM) Implementation
  • Implement d.light’s Route-to-Market strategy effectively.
  • Expand product availability across new and existing channels.
  • Strengthen retail and distributor network performance.
  • Ensure visibility and prioritization of d.light products within all partner outlets.
Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships between d.light and clients.
  • Foster partnerships with distributors, retailers, agents, and customers.
  • Support long-term customer retention and loyalty initiatives.
  • Promote positive brand representation within the territory.
Asset & Tools Management
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of assigned company tools and assets.
  • Maintain motorcycles, vehicles, and equipment according to company policies.
  • Comply with fleet management guidelines where applicable.
  • Safeguard company property and resources.

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma in a Business-related field.
  • 1–2 years of proven sales experience with a successful sales track record.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Relevant industry experience is an added advantage.
  • Valid Ugandan Riding License.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Good customer service and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
