Investment Manager – Inua Capital (Uganda)
Job Summary
Inua Capital is seeking an Investment Manager to lead the full investment lifecycle including origination, evaluation, execution, and portfolio management of investments across Uganda’s SME and impact investing ecosystem.
The role supports the Managing Director (CIO) and plays a key leadership function within the investment team, driving deal flow, transaction execution, and value creation across a diversified portfolio of high-growth businesses.
Key Responsibilities
1. Investment Origination & Pipeline Development
  • Source and develop high-quality investment opportunities aligned with fund strategy.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of deals across sectors.
  • Develop relationships with entrepreneurs, intermediaries, and ecosystem partners.
  • Represent Inua Capital at industry events and investor forums.
  • Maintain market intelligence on sector trends and investment opportunities.
2. Investment Screening & Evaluation
  • Conduct initial screening and commercial assessment of deals.
  • Lead financial modelling, valuation, and investment analysis.
  • Evaluate business models, risks (financial, operational, ESG), and scalability.
  • Prepare investment theses and screening papers.
  • Coordinate internal investment committee processes.
3. Transaction Execution
  • Lead end-to-end investment execution from due diligence to closing.
  • Manage investment memoranda and IC presentations.
  • Coordinate legal, financial, tax, ESG, and technical advisors.
  • Negotiate deal structures and commercial terms.
  • Ensure compliance with fund governance and regulatory frameworks.
4. Portfolio Management & Value Creation
  • Monitor portfolio company performance against KPIs.
  • Work with management teams to improve operations, governance, and growth.
  • Identify value creation opportunities (revenue, efficiency, capital optimization).
  • Support strategic planning, budgeting, and restructuring of portfolio companies.
  • Participate in board meetings and governance structures.
  • Prepare portfolio reports and valuations.
5. Exit Planning & Realisation
  • Develop and execute exit strategies for investments.
  • Coordinate due diligence and buyer engagement processes.
  • Maximize returns through structured exit planning.
  • Manage advisor teams during exit transactions.
6. Risk Management, Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and investment mandates.
  • Identify and escalate financial, operational, and governance risks.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and fiduciary standards.
  • Report incidents and underperformance issues promptly.
7. Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Mentor junior investment team members.
  • Support capability building in financial modelling and deal execution.
  • Promote a high-performance and collaborative team culture.
  • Work closely with senior leadership on strategic initiatives.
8. Strategic & Firmwide Contributions
  • Support fundraising and investor engagement activities.
  • Contribute to firm strategy, sector development, and market expansion.
  • Strengthen Inua Capital’s institutional reputation.
  • Help develop internal investment frameworks and processes.
Requirements
Experience
  • Minimum 6+ years in:
    • Private equity / venture capital / impact investing
    • Strategy consulting or SME growth investing
  • Strong experience working with SMEs in East Africa
Skills
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills
  • Excellent transaction execution capability
  • Strong commercial judgment and investment acumen
  • Leadership and team management experience
  • High attention to detail and strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced investment environments
