Regional Finance Manager (Africa) – Habitat for Humanity
Job Summary
The Regional Finance Manager provides strategic financial oversight and partnership support across Habitat for Humanity’s Africa Area Office. The role ensures strong financial management across planning, budgeting, reporting, audits, compliance, fund transfers, and internal controls across multiple country operations.
The position serves as the key finance liaison between the Africa Area Office, National Directors, and National Office Finance Managers, ensuring financial integrity, donor compliance, and effective use of funds across the region.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management, Reporting & Fund Transfers
  • Review financial reports from Branch and National Offices for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP/IFRS, donor requirements, and internal policies.
  • Review and approve international fund transfer requests.
  • Monitor cash flow and identify financial risks or inefficiencies.
  • Track financial reporting performance across country offices.
2. Financial Planning & Budgeting
  • Review annual budgets, operating plans, and forecasts from country offices.
  • Assess alignment of budgets with strategic and donor priorities.
  • Provide advisory support on budget execution and financial performance.
  • Ensure correct budget uploads into financial systems with proper coding.
3. Audit Management
  • Coordinate external audit processes across Branch and National Offices.
  • Review audit reports and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Track audit findings and ensure timely resolution.
  • Support internal audit processes with the GRC unit.
4. Risk Management & Internal Controls
  • Strengthen internal control systems across all country offices.
  • Identify financial risks, fraud risks, and compliance gaps.
  • Support implementation of finance policies and procedures.
  • Standardize financial processes, tools, and reporting systems.
  • Support investigations and corrective action plans where needed.
5. Capacity Building & Technical Support
  • Assess finance capacity gaps and deliver training across countries.
  • Coach National Office finance teams on reporting and compliance.
  • Lead finance communities of practice and knowledge sharing forums.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of finance staff.
6. Grant Management Support
  • Review grant proposals and budgets for financial viability.
  • Ensure donor compliance in budgeting and reporting.
  • Monitor grant performance and financial variances.
  • Validate donor reports and ensure accuracy before submission.
  • Support resolution of audit findings related to grants.
Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • CPA / ACCA or equivalent professional qualification (required)
Experience
  • Minimum 8 years finance experience
  • At least 3 years in a management role
  • Experience in international NGOs or donor-funded organizations strongly preferred
  • Multi-country or regional finance experience required
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and internal controls
  • Advanced financial analysis and reporting skills
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management ability
  • Ability to influence across multiple countries and teams
  • Strong communication and advisory skills
  • Experience with financial systems (SunSystems an advantage)
