KEY ACCOUNT MANAGER – ON-TRADE JOB AT UGANDA BREWERIES LIMITED (UBL) – KAMPALA, UGANDA
JOB OVERVIEW
The Key Account Manager – On-Trade role at Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), part of East African Breweries Limited (EABL), is responsible for managing and growing strategic on-trade accounts. The role focuses on driving sales performance, brand visibility, customer partnerships, and execution excellence across premium outlets while ensuring profitability and market growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Account Management & Growth
  • Manage and grow assigned key on-trade accounts
  • Develop Joint Customer Business Plans (JUCPS) aligned with commercial goals
  • Identify growth opportunities in distribution, pricing, visibility, and activation
Sales & Commercial Performance
  • Deliver NSV, volume, profitability, and rate-of-sale targets
  • Manage trade investments for optimal ROI
  • Ensure accurate forecasting and demand planning support
Execution Excellence
  • Ensure premium brand visibility in outlets (menus, back bars, displays)
  • Implement promotions, activations, and brand experiences
  • Maintain high execution standards across all assigned outlets
Customer Relationship Management
  • Build strong relationships with outlet owners and managers
  • Act as the main contact for assigned accounts
  • Resolve customer issues while maintaining brand standards
Brand Building & Advocacy
  • Drive premium brand advocacy and consumer engagement
  • Work with advocacy teams to train bartenders and outlet staff
  • Ensure strong brand storytelling and service rituals
Market Analysis & Reporting
  • Monitor sales performance, trends, and competitor activity
  • Provide regular performance reports and insights
  • Identify risks, gaps, and corrective actions
TRADE & OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
  • Manage trade investments and promotional effectiveness
  • Ensure stock availability and reduce out-of-stock situations
  • Maintain accurate reporting and execution documentation
REQUIREMENTS
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Communications, or related field
Experience
  • 3–5 years’ experience in FMCG, alcoholic beverages, or premium consumer goods
  • Experience in key account management or on-trade sales preferred
  • Strong background in customer relationship management and field execution
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding (pricing, margins, ROI)
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Knowledge of nightlife, hospitality, and consumer trends
