Sales Manager – Waterproofing and Industrial Flooring
LOCATION
Kampala, Uganda (with extensive travel across Uganda)
REPORTING TO
General Manager / Country Manager
JOB PURPOSE
The Sales Manager – Waterproofing & Industrial Flooring is responsible for driving business growth and market expansion of waterproofing systems, industrial flooring, protective coatings, and related construction chemical solutions in Uganda. The role focuses on project sales, specification development, technical promotion, and strategic customer relationship management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & PROJECT SALES
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in waterproofing and industrial flooring markets.
  • Build a strong pipeline of projects across industrial, commercial, infrastructure, institutional, and residential sectors.
  • Track major construction projects, consultants, contractors, and tenders in Uganda.
  • Drive specification selling and secure product approvals with consultants, architects, and engineers.
  • Develop relationships with EPC contractors, developers, applicators, and government stakeholders.
WATERPROOFING & FLOORING MARKET DEVELOPMENT
  • Promote waterproofing systems for roofs, basements, wet areas, podium decks, and water-retaining structures.
  • Develop industrial flooring solutions including epoxy, polyurethane, cementitious, and protective systems.
  • Identify opportunities in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, hospitality, food processing, and commercial sectors.
  • Support development of approved applicator networks for correct system installation.
  • Work with contractors and applicators to ensure proper system selection and project success.
TECHNICAL PROMOTION & SPECIFICATION SELLING
  • Conduct technical presentations, CPD seminars, and product demonstrations for consultants and engineers.
  • Ensure systems are included in BOQs, tender documents, and project specifications.
  • Provide technical recommendations based on project requirements and site conditions.
  • Coordinate site trials, mock-ups, and technical approvals with internal technical teams.
  • Support customers on substrate preparation, system selection, and application methods.
COMMERCIAL & TENDER MANAGEMENT
  • Monitor project tenders and manage submission requirements.
  • Prepare quotations, proposals, and pricing strategies.
  • Negotiate contracts and commercial terms with contractors, developers, and industrial clients.
  • Ensure achievement of sales margins and profitability targets.
  • Follow up on quotations and project approvals to secure conversions.
KEY ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT
  • Manage strategic accounts including contractors, consultants, developers, and industrial clients.
  • Build long-term partnerships to ensure repeat business and preferred supplier status.
  • Provide full project lifecycle support from specification to execution and after-sales service.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction and retention.
COORDINATION & INTERNAL COLLABORATION
  • Work with technical, logistics, finance, and operations teams to ensure project success.
  • Coordinate product availability and delivery with supply chain teams.
  • Support training of applicators, distributors, and internal teams.
  • Assist in product launches and market development activities.
MARKET INTELLIGENCE & REPORTING
  • Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, and market developments.
  • Provide regular pipeline reports, forecasts, and market analysis.
  • Identify opportunities for market expansion within Uganda and regional markets.
  • Recommend strategies to improve brand visibility and market penetration.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Marketing, or related field.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction chemicals, waterproofing, industrial flooring, or related building materials.
  • Strong background in project sales and specification-based selling.
  • Experience working with contractors, consultants, architects, and industrial clients in Uganda.
