25. MINERAL PROCESSING TECHNICAL MANAGER

Number of Positions: 1

Job Summary

The Mineral Processing Technical Manager will oversee and optimize mineral processing operations, including crushing, grinding, separation, and dewatering. The role will focus on improving plant performance, production efficiency, and technical reliability.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Manage the complete crushing, grinding, separation, and dewatering processes.
- Monitor and optimize process parameters, plant throughput, and recovery performance.
- Develop and implement technical improvements and process upgrades.
- Organize production plans and coordinate processing activities.
- Identify and resolve technical and operational challenges.
- Monitor production performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead and coordinate mineral processing production teams.
- Promote safe, efficient, and cost-effective plant operations.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mineral Processing, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in concentrator production and technical management.
- Strong knowledge of crushing, grinding, separation, and dewatering processes.
- Proven technical management and team coordination skills.
- Experience working in a large-scale concentrator of 5,000 tonnes per day or more is an added advantage.

26. MINING ENGINEER

Number of Positions: 1

Job Summary

The Mining Engineer will be responsible for underground mine production planning, mining method design, technical management, and coordination of underground mining activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Design and evaluate appropriate underground mining methods.
- Prepare mine development and production schedules.
- Design and oversee long-hole blasting activities.
- Resolve technical issues affecting underground production.
- Monitor mining activities to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Coordinate with geology, mineral processing, engineering, and other departments.
- Support efficient and safe underground mine production.
- Provide technical guidance to underground mining teams.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mining Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in underground mine technical management.

- Proficiency in Dimine, Surpac, or other mine planning and design software.
- Strong site organization, communication, and coordination skills.

- Monitor and optimize grinding, gravity, magnetic, and flotation circuits.
- Develop process improvement and plant upgrade proposals.
- Monitor and optimize reagent consumption.
- Investigate and resolve process abnormalities.

Job Summary

The Cyanidation Engineers will be responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of the 350-tonnes-per-day Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) cyanidation circuit.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Monitor and control cyanide concentration, dissolved oxygen, and leaching time.
- Manage carbon adsorption performance within the CIL circuit.
- Monitor tailings detoxification processes.
- Investigate and resolve leaching and process abnormalities.
- Ensure compliance with cyanide management, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Monitor plant performance and recommend process improvements.
- Train and mentor local plant operators.
- Maintain accurate operational records and reports.

Requirements

- Diploma or higher in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

- Strong knowledge of CIL/CIP gold processing systems.
- Good understanding of cyanide safety and environmental management.

33. ASSAY LABORATORY CHEMIST

Job Summary

The Assay Laboratory Chemist will conduct gold and multi-element analysis to provide accurate laboratory data for production control, quality assurance, and metal balance management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Conduct fire assay and instrumental analysis of mineral samples.
- Perform Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), XRF, and ICP analysis.
- Prepare samples, standards, and reagents for laboratory analysis.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical instruments.
- Apply laboratory quality control procedures to ensure analytical accuracy.
- Investigate unusual or inconsistent analytical results.
- Prepare and issue accurate assay reports.
- Maintain proper laboratory records and documentation.

Requirements

- Diploma or higher in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
- Relevant qualification in assay analysis.
- Practical experience in fire assay, AAS, XRF, and ICP analysis.

34. FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT

Job Summary

The Financial Accountant will manage financial accounting, tax compliance, cost analysis, and financial reporting activities for the Wagagai Mining project and other Hongda Group projects in Uganda.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Manage financial accounting and reporting activities.
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.
- Support tax filing, tax planning, and statutory compliance.
- Conduct project cost accounting and financial analysis.
- Monitor project expenditure, budgets, and financial performance.
- Prepare financial information required by lenders and project stakeholders.
- Support project finance modelling and financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Ugandan accounting and tax requirements.
- Work with relevant regulatory authorities and stakeholders where required.
- Support ERP data migration and financial reporting system improvements.

Education and Professional Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is required.
- ERP certification is an added advantage.

Experience

- At least 4 years of experience in accounting and cost accounting.
- Experience in the mining or manufacturing sector is preferred.
- Knowledge of Ugandan tax laws and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with requirements applicable to mining enterprises, including those of the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and relevant government authorities.
- Experience in lender reporting and project finance modelling is an advantage.

Technical Skills

- Proficiency in financial management and accounting software such as YonyouCloud U9 or Tally.
- Ability to support ERP data migration and report customization.
- Knowledge of preparing financial reports in accordance with applicable financial reporting standards.
- Strong Excel, financial analysis, reporting, and data-management skills.
