Mission and Objectives

Mission Statement
To actively engage in the restoration and giving hope, future, love, education, spiritual, and basic support to disadvantaged children, youths, and communities of Northern Uganda.

Objectives

  • Provide education, health, sanitation, nutrition, spiritual life, and vocational training skills to disadvantaged children and youths.
  • Promote psycho-social support to orphans, street children, and youths.
  • Advocate for the rights and wellbeing of disadvantaged groups, especially children and youths living with HIV/AIDS.
  • Promote caretaker psycho-social support and income-generating activities.
  • Conduct research and disseminate data and information among communities on disadvantaged children and youths.
  • Fight child abuse and protect children’s rights.
  • Subscribe to local and international charities and donor support programs.
  • Provide leadership training to youths.

Context

This assignment focuses on supporting resource mobilization efforts to strengthen the school’s capacity to provide quality education. Volunteers will contribute by helping identify partnerships, developing resource mobilization materials, and promoting sustainable support for:
  • Installation of a water system
  • Acquisition of classroom desks
  • Enhanced teacher support
These efforts aim to improve the learning environment and overall wellbeing of vulnerable children in Northern Uganda.

Task Description

Purewish Foundation Uganda (formerly known as New Generation for Change) is a community-based organization committed to building stronger, healthier, and more prosperous communities through:
  • Access to quality education
  • Economic empowerment
  • Improved water and sanitation
In Northern Uganda, many children continue to face the long-term effects of:
  • Conflict
  • Poverty
  • Displacement
  • Limited access to essential services
These challenges affect:
  • School attendance
  • Learning outcomes
  • The wellbeing of vulnerable children, including:
    • Orphans
    • Refugees
    • Children from extremely low-income families
To respond to this need, Purewish Foundation Uganda established Purewish Junior School (Nursery and Primary) to provide inclusive and affordable education for vulnerable children.
The school serves as a safe space where children can:
  • Learn
  • Receive care
  • Rebuild hope for their future
However, the school still faces critical gaps including:
  • Limited access to safe water
  • Inadequate classroom desks
  • Insufficient support for teachers serving with limited resources

Volunteer Assignment Purpose

The organization seeks passionate volunteers to support resource mobilization efforts aimed at:
  • Strengthening the learning environment
  • Improving the wellbeing of vulnerable children
The assignment will support:

Assignment Requirements

  • Resource mobilization and partnership development skills
  • Proposal writing, concept note development, and grant support experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Basic research and information analysis skills
  • Ability to develop:

Experience
  • Experience in education, community development, or humanitarian work
  • Experience supporting NGOs, schools, or community-based organizations
  • Background in fundraising strategy support or resource mobilization (non-solicitation)
  • Experience in partnership building with institutions or organizations
  • Experience in communications, marketing, or awareness campaigns
  • Experience in project planning, coordination, or monitoring
  • Experience working with vulnerable children or underserved communities is desirable
