CPS Uganda is seeking a highly skilled Technical Security Engineer to serve as the technical backbone of its security practice.

Job Summary
The Technical Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing advanced cybersecurity solutions across cloud, endpoint, identity, and data environments. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft security technologies and related third-party tools to protect client infrastructures and enhance cyber resilience.
You will engage directly with clients, assess security risks, implement solutions, and support ongoing security operations across diverse enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities
1. Security Architecture & Solution Design
  • Assess client environments and design end-to-end security architectures.
  • Implement Zero Trust frameworks across Microsoft 365 and Azure.
  • Design IAM and DLP strategies to protect identities and sensitive data.
  • Develop threat protection solutions for endpoint, email, cloud, and identity systems.
  • Create security roadmaps and structured remediation plans.
  • Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and design records.

2. Client Engagement & Technical Advisory
  • Serve as the primary technical contact during security engagements.
  • Conduct workshops, assessments, and security briefings with IT leaders and executives.
  • Present technical findings in clear, business-focused language.
  • Guide clients on security decisions and best-fit solutions.
  • Develop Statements of Work (SOWs) and technical scoping documents.
  • Maintain long-term technical relationships with clients.

3. Deployment, Configuration & Implementation
  • Deploy Microsoft Defender (Endpoint, Identity, Office 365, Cloud Apps).
  • Implement Microsoft Sentinel SIEM rules, detections, and automation playbooks.
  • Configure Microsoft Intune and Defender for Endpoint policies.
  • Deploy Microsoft Purview DLP and Information Protection solutions.
  • Implement Sophos, Acronis, and Veeam security and backup systems.
  • Perform testing, validation, and post-deployment assessments.

4. Incident Response & Threat Management
  • Monitor environments using SIEM, EDR, and cloud security tools.
  • Lead investigation, containment, and recovery of security incidents.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and prepare incident reports.
  • Develop and maintain incident response playbooks.
  • Perform proactive threat hunting.
  • Support client incident response capability building.

5. Compliance & Vulnerability Management
  • Assess systems against ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, and GDPR.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and security audits.
  • Prioritize and track remediation actions based on risk.
  • Provide compliance documentation and technical audit support.
  • Implement security hardening across systems and cloud workloads.
  • Produce regular security posture reports.

6. Continuous Improvement & Technical Development
  • Stay updated on cybersecurity threats and technologies.
  • Contribute to internal security frameworks and best practices.
  • Share knowledge through training and documentation.
  • Participate in industry forums and Microsoft programs.
  • Improve security delivery processes and tooling.
  • Support performance improvement across engagements.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity or IT security operations.
  • Experience with Microsoft security solutions in production environments.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements effectively.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
  • Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Purview, Entra ID.
  • Security assessments, vulnerability management, and threat investigations.
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST CSF, or CIS Controls.

Certifications (Added Advantage)
  • AZ-500 (Azure Security Engineer)
  • SC-300 (Identity & Access Administrator)
  • MS-500 (Microsoft 365 Security Administrator)
  • CompTIA Security+ or CEH
  • ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor
  • Sophos Certified Engineer
  • SC-900 (Required baseline)
  • SC-200 (Mandatory for experienced candidates)
