Job Summary
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Software Development Assistant to join our growing technology team in Uganda. In this entry-level role, you will work closely with senior software engineers and IT management to design, code, test, and maintain robust web applications and enterprise systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a tech professional looking to expand their expertise in modern frameworks, enterprise resource planning (ERP) customizations, and agile development cycles.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to analyze business requirements, design software solutions, write clean code, and execute testing.
  • Assist in customizing, extending, and integrating enterprise systems (such as Microsoft Dynamics Business Central using AL/CAL) by developing extensions, modifying pages, and generating reports.
  • Build and maintain secure, scalable web applications utilizing Laravel, C#, and .NET Core frameworks.
  • Integrate diverse software systems, databases, and third-party services using APIs, webhooks, and middleware.
  • Maintain comprehensive system documentation, including technical designs, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) records, and user manuals.
  • Ensure effective version control, continuous integration, and smooth CI/CD workflows using Git/GitHub or Azure DevOps.
  • Participate actively in agile development ceremonies (Scrum/Kanban) to deliver software updates and improvements on a regular schedule.
  • Provide user training, technical guidance, and tier-one support to ensure high adoption rates of deployed solutions.
Academic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a directly related technical field.
Person Specification & Technical Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on software development experience working with modern frameworks and agile methodologies.
  • Practical experience developing extensions, page modifications, and custom reports for Business Central using AL/CAL.
  • Demonstrated capability in building secure, scalable web solutions using Laravel, C#, and .NET Core.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of relational databases, data modeling principles, and SQL query optimization.
  • Proven ability to connect disparate systems through APIs, webhooks, and middleware integration.
  • Proficient with modern code management and collaboration tools, including Git/GitHub or Azure DevOps.
