The company is seeking a highly experienced Senior Specialist – Infrastructure Operations to support the design, implementation, automation, security, and management of enterprise IT infrastructure.

Job Summary

The Senior Specialist – Infrastructure Operations will be responsible for interpreting business and system requirements to design and manage secure, scalable, and high-performing IT infrastructure.
The role requires expertise in virtualization, cloud computing, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, enterprise networking, automation, IT service management (ITSM), vendor management, and infrastructure operations.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Design and Operations
  • Design and automate infrastructure processes to improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop infrastructure solutions that meet performance, security, scalability, and availability requirements.
  • Support enterprise infrastructure planning and implementation.
  • Participate in designing automation solutions for IT operations.
Systems Administration and Security
  • Administer, configure, and deploy security tools across MTN's ICT infrastructure.
  • Manage platforms such as Splunk, OSSEC, Trend Micro, and other operational and security tools.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and improve infrastructure security.
  • Manage endpoint security and network access controls.
  • Support Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) activities.
Cloud and Virtualization
  • Manage virtualization environments using VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Support cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure, AWS, or other cloud platforms.
  • Design and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Ensure business continuity through effective infrastructure planning.
IT Service Management
  • Integrate ITSM tools with vendors, operating companies, and service providers.
  • Support incident management processes and service continuity.
  • Coordinate configuration, release, and change management activities.
  • Develop operational procedures and technical documentation.
Monitoring and Performance Management
  • Monitor back-office systems and infrastructure performance.
  • Generate system performance reports and operational statistics.
  • Execute software upgrades and infrastructure improvements.
  • Ensure operational tools remain available and secure.
Vendor and Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary contact for infrastructure vendors.
  • Ensure vendors comply with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
  • Coordinate support across multiple technology partners.

Education Requirements

Applicants should possess:
  • Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Computer Science
    • Information Technology
    • Software Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Telecommunications Engineering
    • Or another related field.

Experience Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:
  • Strong experience in IT infrastructure design, planning, and operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of virtualization technologies including VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or local cloud environments.
  • Strong networking experience covering:
    • LAN/WAN
    • Firewalls
    • Routing
    • Switching
    • VPN technologies
  • Experience implementing high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong cybersecurity knowledge and infrastructure security management experience.
  • Experience interpreting enterprise architecture and translating requirements into infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience managing IT budgets.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.

Key Skills Required

Infrastructure Management
Ability to design, deploy, manage, and optimize enterprise IT infrastructure.
Cloud Computing
Experience with Azure, AWS, hybrid cloud environments, and cloud infrastructure management.
Cybersecurity
Knowledge of enterprise security tools, vulnerability management, access control, and security monitoring.
Networking
Strong understanding of enterprise networking technologies including routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls, and network security.
Automation
Experience designing automated infrastructure processes that improve operational efficiency.
Vendor Management
Ability to manage third-party vendors, monitor service delivery, and ensure compliance with SLAs.
Leadership and Communication
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
